Wife and I were discussing this the other day - I was tweeting Ellen Degeneres my displeasure of her Oscar 'selfie' which caused the Samsung Note 3 to increase in price by 33%, effectively killing it for me - I digress...
Point is I can color-coordinate better than any woman alive, can decorate the fuck out of any room(think motif), am not gay, yet would be at a disadvantage in bidding a project with competition that *was* gay. Yeah. The world is strange. Just like a really bad movie...
I need to install a new motherboard in a server like right now - catch ya'll later.
Paying $4.99 for Start8 to get an XP-like interface... you pay more for coffee at Starbucks, vs. continually pissing and moaning about the modern UI over how MS 'shoulda done it'.
How much is your time worth? $4.99 is a very small price to pay to just get on with it and do my job(s). Maybe I pick my battles differently, maybe I just get tired of the squishy sound beating my head against a wall. Take your pick.
Good Day!*
;)
*up/down votes-> wasn't me. Too much effort for this subject.
ok, wouldn't buy any hardware from the Microsoft Store, but ya'll need to stop being ridiculous.
I've been running Windows 8 since first day on an HP EliteBook 8440p, running Start8 since 45 minutes after install and haven't seen Metro or whatever you want to call that way-too-large start menu since. Boots right into desktop.
Pay your $4.99, Bada boom, bada bing, Windows 7 desktop with Windows 8 speed.*
*edited to say: I apologize for the pun. It was not intended. Try again with an Italian mobster accent.
Yep, Lewis is incorrect here. I've got a rooster that has attacked the wife and daughter, little fucker goes for the eyes with his spurs.
fyi: There is such a thing as a chicken tractor, upper level for nesting and laying, lower fenced-in part so they can be 'outside'. You move it every three or four days and it greens up the yard nicely. Negligible smell this way as opposed to a traditional chicken coop. Eggs taste better too.
;)
What makes them shitty?
I just did an informal poll of $house $devices, Samsung S4, Motorola Razr XT912, BlackBerry Storm 2, Samsung Stratosphere, four generations of Kindles (orig, 2012, HD, HDX), Acer A500. Everything except the Acer uses the micro USB, small side up. All 4.6-5 volts, except for the two extra-special-super-duper-$20-actually-nice 9.6 volt Amazon Fire quickchargers. Looking at the micro-usb, the small side 9-10 times has the USB icon (except for my fastboot USB cable, scorpion on that one ;)
It's much better than it used to be, I swear there were no feature phones back in the late 90's/early 00's that didn't have a oddball power connector.
Android folks get treated like second-class citizens by Apple people...
Case in point: All the bitching (still) about letting the riff-raff into what was a iTunes-only thing, Clash of Clans, by the iPhone/iPad crowd... hurt my feelings, it did. So much I flashed a couple of Kindle Fires* to vanilla KitKat to play CoC on.
;)
*I'm agnostic with hardware, whatever works best, I say. They fly btw, those Fires make excellent daily-use multipurpose tablets with a proper OS.
s'ok.. Mamma Earth is slowly taking care of the issue-> sinkholes for the worst offenders.
Got a friend in Tampa. trains military/police dogs... the bitey kind lol. Wait, what are we talking about? Got a CSS problem for a website due out today...and mind is jello atm. I need a beer already.
sigh...
Oh yeah ... lawyers suck... pretty much covers subject.
Still prefer my laptops for surfing/working-> easier to balance a laptop pretty much anywhere. My Kindles (Original, HD, HDX) run Kitkat and are good for entertainment (Clash of Clans... stupid game yet addicting lol - those Kindles make excellent vanilla Android tablets).
Laptops run Win8pro, desktops on Win7. Really my only bitch is I'd really like my laptops to have touchscreens (note to self, go get a couple of touchscreen laptops)... when running tablets and laptops in tandem, there is a definite WTF moment when I start tapping on the laptop screen and nothing happens... stupid human tricks, eh?
;)
@Mr Anonymous (why does that word always look mispelled..... anyway)
AT&T's version of the BB Torch had a slider as well as touch kb's
http://us.blackberry.com/smartphones/blackberry-torch.html#!family=Torch
For some reason, it never translated over to Verizon. Too bad too, it was pretty sexy ;)
Give the bastard a PS3, long as he STFU, we're good.
Seriously folks, these cream_of_the_crop_assholes have lots of time on their hands, with nothing to lose. There will be downvotes from the 'hard time-fuck-em folks' and there is some validity to their argument, but I'd rather have my officers go home unscathed. Give him the damn PS3 since you won't execute him - former shift sergeant, AZ Dept of Corrections.
Nope. Only time my family needed them, they failed (2003 Dodge Ram quad cab pickup-> 50' ravine, large trees= ugly) You live in your hamster ball, I'll take my chances with a larger, heavier, real metal 1960's American sedan.
To each his own, I say.
Trolling.
One thing I've learned here is you can say pretty much whatever you want, it's *how* you put it. I knew if I mentioned 'Obama', the downvotes were coming, had I said 'assclown in DC', none would have appeared. Funny how that works, eh?
Call it a social experiment, call it trolling, call it whatever you want, but I'll bet I could get a Fed grant for the study.
;)
There is manufacturing going on in right-to-work states right now, where the unions have no power. Tennessee has Nissan, Toyota, and Volkswagen plants producing cars, although the unions are trying by hook and by crook to get in.
Overall, you're correct-> the unions need to be busted but it won't even begin to start until Obama & Friends are gone.
TH= My Town Hall lvl 5 in 'Clash of Clans' - an IOS/iTunes game that was recently (last October) ported over to Android and Google Play. Addicting. Rooted & cyanogen modded two Kindle Fires so far just to play the damn game (wife got hooked too).
Curbstomp= British reference (where I picked it up anyway, Daily Mail can be very graphic). noun? Verb? Place unconscious person's mouth on edge of curb, stomp back of head. Yes, very nasty. Best kill me, ya know? Somebody who would do that wouldn't be hard to find if you know what I mean.
In this case, 'Moses' with his lvl 8 TH and all the benefits that implies, used a freaking Barbarian King in his attack. A_Barbarian_King_On_My_TH5. Insulting. You get one chance at revenge and I'm saving it.
;)
on a side note: Supercell is pretty damn smart with their game, free to play, but with in-game microtransactions, we're in $100 already just to hurry things along. Learning patience and discipline though lol. Damn it. lol.
*edited we're the PtewPtew Gotcha clan hehe
A 'Moses' curbstomped my TH 6 hours ago. Then a 'Moses' shows up here...
Coincidence? I think not...... cue up peasants..... A WITCH A WITCH!
;)
p.s. just so happens we're looking for a new family car. Had been considering a real heavy metal 60s-70s non-computer one. This article pretty much nails it down. A nice 72 Chrysler New Yorker perhaps... bang <crinkle crinkle> what was that? Oh. Prius....
You might be wrong too. Shouldn't really make assumptions like that either.
More a matter of manufacturers releasing upgraded software for their phones instead of pumping out new models. For instance I have an Acer Iconia A500 that's been through Gingerbread->Ice Cream Sandwich, Jelly Bean, and now KitKat. Each upgrade has made the tab smoother and a little quicker each time. The same holds for my Motorola Razr, going from ICS to JellyBean was like getting a new phone. It will never see another upgrade, not because of Motorola or Android, but because of Verizon. Can't sell new phones if the older ones as just as good with the same software.
I'm a Windows guy mostly, I know what marketing departments do. I know Windows 7 will happily run on any old XP boxen that has a dual core cpu and 2GB of ram, but that's not what they would have you believe.
I'm in the middle of an epiphany that KitKat is a happy camper on your average 1st generation Kindle Fire, once rooted, and flies like the wind for some 'old throwaway tech'. Great hardware. Becomes a fine fully-functional android tablet with proper software. (odd how wanting to play 'Clash of Clans' leads you into some different tangent).
Where was I? Not sure other than perception can be managed and marketing has been using psychology on us poor masses for a long time now. Must test for yourself before making assumptions like 'probably run like a dog' because that's only what *they* would have you believe lol.
Cheers!
;)
+1 for truth.
Tabs are media consuming devices, not educational. Even with all the improvements, I still can't use one on the job, still need all the ports, tools, etc on my laptops. I tried too. Would be nice to leave backpack in truck, ya know?
One Use in US: Common Core (whole other subject-> gov indoctrination) is online since no one has textbooks for the Feds' latest educational creation of 'critical thinking'*
*oddest idea ever, no answers are wrong, they want to know *how* you came up with answer. I.E. 2+2 can equal 'Jello' if the kid can say why it means 'jello' to them. Coming Soon: Congress enacts law to regulate pi to '3'....

15 million Turkish kids.
Go here http://www.amazon.com/gp/feature.html?docId=1001324521 and buy 15 million certified refurbished Kindle Fire 16GB HD's for $108/each delivered (does Turkey have a Prime account? free shipping aye) which equals $1.62 billion obamabucks (worth fancy L .004 per buck ;).
Root, flash to KitKat= $Profit$
Saved Turkish economy hit with a 2.25 Billion in savings (rounded for the 'grease' money to make this happen lol)
Just a thought... pretty stoked about my new(ish) Fire HD for $108-> Amazon didn't know they still had this sale going, had to give up address three times to confirm and yet the page is still up today. Comes in 2nd in a google search 'certified refurbished Kindle Fire HD'. Even have the big ones cheap w/year warranty.
;)
Angry Clash of Candy.... should about cover this. Wonder why there isn't a Court/Lawyer game? Like Sims but start as a young fresh-out-of-college intern to judgeship? Intrigue, the stepping on bodies_as_rungs_in_a_ladder.... ambulance chasing, all that fun stuff..
Edit: I'm boring myself. Going to see how my TH fared while I was asleep.
Carry on.
AT&T rolled a client of mine yesterday over to VOIP-> told them they had to upgrade or lose service. Had no choice. Totally screwed the network configurations and didn't even think about the damn fax machine (which requires a physical line). Took me 4 hours to recover the network connectivity with all the bits & pieces they have..
Already emailed client with this article, there will be one super-pissed off lawyer's office (they were already pissed off, they really should have checked with their IT company, me, before letting anybody touch their network. Hard Lesson) tomorrow. I plan on being there for AT&T's explanation as they return the client to their original service config and monetary amount these lawyers get.
:|
Even if Prime membership goes up, I'll probably keep it-> the savings on shipping alone cover it. I like Amazon, I get my cases of Yorkshire Gold and PG Tips inexpensively as opposed to anybody who might carry it (although I did see PGTips in Walmart 40ct box recently).
As a side note: Those Kindle Fires make *excellent* Cyanogenmod KitKat Android tablets. The original Fire flies with it.*
*Wife wanted to play Clash of Clans, Amazon's fork cannot load it due to the Google Play requirement for micro-transactions and progress saves-> Root, KitKat, Kindle Books, and Google Play. Clash On! lol Very quick. ;)
'Since when has quality mattered when dwarfed by sheer mega-ness, though! :)'
Quality would be why I have a 2014 55" Samsung 'dumb' flat screen and not the 70" Vizio 'smart' version -> Samsung looks like being at a stageplay, so real, while the Vizio looks like, well, you're looking at a big honking analog TV...
YMMV
...there was a time, long ago, when Hatch had a brain...
I've often wondered when it happened. When the politician used to think on his feet, that didn't need a supporting cast of thousands, to make up his/her mind. As if their faces were their brand and any ideas/noises that come out of them have been blended, folded, stapled, and wrung of any content that has any meaning that cannot be changed as needed to fit the situation now or in the future.
Or is it just me? IDK any more.
'Adobe has also set aside the second Tuesday of the year for its scheduled security updates, though the company has yet to give word on any upcoming patch releases'
Really. That would be nice actually. Seems I can't reboot a workstation without Adobe wanting attention... Can't be just me.
oh pendant alert: "Tuesday of the year" - I believe there's 52 Tuesdays per year, which one do you speak of?
;)
