Our ageing golf went into the workshop and they loaned me a shiny new polo, but the damn thing wouldn't start, flashing up some kind of red warning symbol about a foot pedal.
Little did I suspect that modern cars need you to press the clutch to allow them to start! Embarrassing but understandable...
Even our fairly boring Golf has a performance monitor mode on the entertainment unit that shows engine power output, turbo boost and g-forces.
You can also set the throttle, braking and cruise responsiveness via it, so it's not even just reading engine management info but setting it as well.
Most smart phones have proximity sensors that disable the screen when it's held close to your head.
It's the people who are left-handed but right-eared, or vice versa, that I feel sorry for - having to hold your phone awkwardly with your arm across your body looks most uncomfortable!
