The problem is that because "hyperlink" is a catch all it can only be treated as such.

Now I'm a little vague on ladies loo's here but don't they have these stall things that kind of restrict a "perverts" ability to see anything at all, with locks. Any attempt to get around these barriers breaks real laws and doesn't need ignorance and intolerance to protect it. I mean really what do you think goes on in there!
In fact I'd be more concerned about female "perverts" coming into male loo's and catching a look at your *ahem* "big" john.

We sadly have had a mixed bag.
Some are excellent and get the job done quickly and professionally.
The one we never forget is the "technician" that took apart a Dell AIO using a powerdrill with a screwdriver bit. The problem was a cracked screen.
He shredded 2 screws taking it apart, fitted the new screen, shredded another 2 putting it back together (this included a lot of grunting and the sound of the ratchet slipping) only to find he had managed to crack the new screen.
We got a whole new PC and never saw him again.
If you have already paid for the turd and still never got it polished why not give it to a uni to polish, you'll at least get some brownie points for passing stuff down to education.
I mean they could just stick it in a warehouse and forget about it.
They are just choosing the 2 yank "success's" at the DARPA competition as the lucky polishers.

Why is it that this is being seen as such a black and white issue?
It's always put across by both sides of the powers that be that you either accept it or you love terrorists.
Where is the legislation to simply improve transparency, to put in some oversight, to make the [insert three letter agency here] accountable, to make them obey the laws and to make at least some of the information on closed cases public so that there is the feeling that it works.
Is compromise so hard?

I'm going to guess you use Linux, switched from Windows and don't see the point in going back, fight the power and all that, unless you want to play anything outside of the 100 or so steam games.
If not then it must be OSX and you are looking for a invite, since you have to use Windows part of the time to do everything one would expect from an OS (bit like Linux), but I thought you'd be all partied out by the "amazing" announcements Apple have made in the last few years.

Okay, on topic. The point is F1 is considered a pinnacle of engineering because every part is custom designed to save 10th's of a second. To save grams. The good filters down to our life. The rubbish is reworked. Regardless of personal opinion the top engineers flock to true challenges, F1 has top engineers. Go look up Adrian Newey. Bask in his bald greatness.
Because nothing else is based around the idea of building a light car with a turbo engine that runs at 15k rpm minimum.
And a energy recovery system on both the brakes and the turbo that generates 180hp.
And can withstand 190miles (Silverstone) continuously.
And roughly 800miles (rounded down - 4 races per engine) overall before something can be replaced.
And the g's of braking from 200mph multiple times a lap for 52 laps (Silverstone again).
And has to fit into a very small space.

They have announced that DOTA2 is getting a new engine sometime in Q1. Dubbed Source2, surprise surprise.
I wouldn't be surprised if it isn't used as the game for the big reveal judging by the last valve competition being for a prize pool of $10million.
Or maybe it's just the smokescreen for Half-Life.
So lets say they get their wish somehow.....somehow.

Even open it up for bidding and let anyone propose to be a preferred partner then outbid them as they are paying themselves anyway.

The problem is that we seem to expect the weather and the climate to follow set rules and conform to our predictions. It's a massively complex system that is a constant state of flux with way too many variables to be able to properly predict. What if the way it is is the same as it would be if we weren't here.
Solar flares, meteors, everyone and their son launching rockets, increase in shipping tonnage, increase in air traffic, earthquakes, sinkholes. Everything changes something. Some might be a small change but still a change.
Maybe things like the great barrier reef dying are due to sea levels rising caused by the amount of shipping raising the sea level by a few "mm". Doubt that was on anybodies climate model.
(I do fully expect someone smarter than me to pick holes in what I say. But my point stands, small change is still change. Not all of it is ever predicted)
The only one of the big press conferences that genuinely impressed was Microsofts.
Every title they wheeled out was then played, okay so the division was a rather camp recording of someone playing but they were all gameplay footage and not just the usual "shiny" trailers.
Ubisoft take note. When the company earlier shows off your games better and before you, then you need to work harder.
Oh and as a person with a small group of friends who love a good co-op we rejoice at being noticed outside of Saint Row 3/4!
Ok maybe I was too subtle. a modern SR-71 is what you need here.
The original was made to search Russian for nuke bases etc. If it could do that with 60's tech in a country almost the size of China and the US combined this area is not that big.
If you could quickly scan them and get a rough idea enough to target satellites or another run then how is that not increasing the odds. Being able to search the predicted areas in what 24hours maybe less.
Cost is a worry but a less exotically manufactured aeroframe(s), less titanium would be a good start, built to do SaR and standoff surveillance is surely a viable task for NATO countries. I've never seen a decent reason for ditching the SR program other than satellites and they aren't up to the task.
If only somebody had a plane that could have been scrambled to the area...
If only said plane was really fast with a large range...
If only it was (mostly) declassified because it was made in the 60's...
If only it could cruise at mach 3 and cover the "arcs" without waiting for a satellite...
If only someone hadn't been short sighted enough to think that there was no place for a true spy plane anymore...even in an civilian oh sh"t we need to see what happened there role.
Hell the world can't not have the technology to create a slightly less exotic plane.
Maybe I'm just too optimistic but it would help to have one in a global SaR scenario.
Show me a genuine climate change model that takes into account 5+billion years, shows that humanity is the cause and then perhaps you will sell it. (What you can't?)
Oh and just to point out - ice caps melt, sea levels rise, more methane, tempatures rise, more evaporation(of the now larger surface area of sea), rains more, CO2 is once more "locked" into sea water while being taken out of the atmosphere, temp falls, ice forms at the caps, sea level falls, less evaporation, tempature rises, ice caps melt...... this only breaks if the oceans boil! (wiki carbon cycle and I won't deny this might not be strictly accurate but it's close)
Over 3000 years the highest tempature in the North Atlantic was 25C roughly 2500 years ago on the surface (http://www.friendsofscience.org/assets/documents/FOS%20Essay/seasurface.GIF), add in that salt levels should stay roughly equal as the ice caps are frozen seawater. So that's 103C without factoring an increase in salt concentration due to evaporation.
I know fine well someone will sit and pull this apart and I couldn't care less, it's your time to waste. Hope at least someone will sit there and see sense.
Now can we ditch short term renewable energy and look at an actual solution, too much to ask?
