Stay away from Microsoft

This tale shows that unless you don't care whatever happens to your company, never get involved with Microsoft, ever. All the good stuff will disappear from day 1. Nothing will replace it and real value is removed forever.

Isn't that the exact wrong way to ensure security? If the doors are hidden, so are the burglars.

Already fixed

Nicest thing is that last night I saw an update for this issue. I don't normally check the updates but the 'X-windows' reference caught my eye. So it was fixed before its existence even reached The Register.

Getting quagmired even further?

My clients wouldn't be pleased at all if I suggested that they get even further entangled in the MS jungle. Most of them are trying hard to get rid of them asap.

Why would you use Azure with its obvious attempts to lock you into the Windows world, when that world is already crumbling AND there are so much better alternatives in the open source world.

With all this licking up to the Apple playground I'm almost feeling a sympathy for M$.

Business fools

I'm really glad Micro$soft takes this firm stance because it finally shows how little they understand their customers.

It's not that the small-shop 'IT-managers' do not want to upgrade, they don't know where to start. It should be M$'s responsibility to build upgradepaths and -tools and make it totally easy to do it. Instead they rely on their clients to hire their OEM/consultants and pay an extra $500 per workplace to get it done.

I think many of these will be very pissed of by being let in the cold again and from my experience a lot have finally decided to move away from the Redmond mobsters.

It's all business

US government is bought and payed for by the US corporations. The US diplomatic branche around the world spends most of it's time on greasing the inroads for US corps. The NSA is just making that job easier.

BTW. How can they guarantee no industrial espionage if the raw data is shared with Israel, who has no reservations whatsoever in this regard.

Why Sync?

I don't get it. Since I switched from my beloved Palm's to Android I haven't felt the need to sync anything with a PC, let alone through a docking station and wire. Am I missing something?

People at all levels of society up to and including the President of the United States have recognized the contribution of these careful disclosures to a necessary public debate, and we are proud of this record.

I think we see the classical confrontation between left/progressive and liberal/libertarian. I don't think Assange is a progressive perse. The distinction between left and right is what keeps the current stranglehold of the powerstructure going. And that powerstructure is threatened by Wikileaks.

Maybe Assange should be more communicative to run a party, but nonetheless I think he will have good reasons to have made the decision that led to this issue. Those reasons deserve attention as well. Although I'm an environmentalist myself, even member of the Animal Party here in NL, I can see that hunting rights are not just something to take away from people. It's about freedom and non-interference by the establishment.

I'm a bit worried about the more frequent use of the term 'user experience' in Google's PR speak lately (as in the update in the OP). I associate that with unsavvy marketing management types, Microserfs mostly. I hope it's not a bad sign.

Another nail

Even more doubting IT decision makers will start looking into open solutions after this news. Apparently MS is seriously in decline and if you are responsible for the future IT in your company you'd better start looking for alternatives soon.

Whatever goodwill was left has evaporated now.
