Peugeot 508 RXH estate car review

tmTM

Re: Peugeots + electrics =

You can run it off chip fat, or engine oil, gearbox oil or any oil of siliar consistancy.

All with the correct Bosch fuel system of course, and only legally chip fat/biofuel can be used on the road.

Oz cinema chain to stream new releases

tmTM

If they were able to stream moveis currently available at the cinema then it's a great idea.

I'm sick of the rubbish (Cinema Experiance) excuse the industry bleats at the public as justification for not rolling out a streaming service.

The 'Cinema Expericance' shouldn't involve emptying your wallet for a couple of tickets, and then emptying it again for a few snacks.

Last time I went to the cinema I took one look at the prices for everything, and realised we could go out for a nice meal for the same money - so we did.

Re: Its a good game....

Old games consoles need old screens.

The low res poor definition provided by an old CRT telly will help smooth some of the rough edges and textures making it much easier on the eye.

Goldeneye is a good game because it's a good game, graphics are irrelivent it's still a blast.

Software disaster zone Knight Capital bags $400m lifeline

tmTM

"It wouldn't have made $440 million and certainly not in an hour."

This a hundred times over, it's not some simple two way street that Knight went the wrong way on - there's no possibility the system could have made money as fast as it lost it.

The story has made news because of the impressive amount lost in such a small time because of bad IT practise.

If they had good IT practises they would have tested outside of a live environment, implemented the system and made small amounts of money over time.

Devon NHS trust left data of 1,373 staff online for MONTHS

It's the NHS, of course nothing will change.

Samsung: 'Apple's proto-iPhone Jony is a Sony phone phoney'

Apple CEO: Frothing fanboi iPhone 5 hype screwed our sales

tmTM

"How does that make any sense? It's not the first time they've lost sales due to rumours"

It's not like they do anything to quash the rumours is it, unlike everyone else who releases the odd detail.

They're victims of their own success, there's no sympathy for them.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1

tmTM

Value For Money

Samsung usually provides this in spades with other tech, they can't get tablets right tho.

This is overpriced and far too late to the market, it should have been kicked last year as a refresh for the tab 10.1, not now as the Tab2.

Dixons: Brits to get iPad Mini, Kindle Fire for Xmas

tmTM

Re: WOW

Indeed, and if Google get the superior Nexus tablet to the market first there won't be much of a reason to buy a Kindle Fire - unless it's priced very well.

Google Nexus 7 Android tablet

tmTM

Re: meh

Tethered brick???

You you do know you can tether the tablet to your mobile phone and use that connection - it's quite easy and just as quick.

It also means you don't need to pay for another mobile contract, you buy one decent one and use it for both tablet and phone.

So the non-3G tablet is not only cheaper to buy, but also obviously cheaper to run.

US defence biz fined for busting China arms embargo

tmTM

Mugs

They broke the law and sold the Chinese this technology on a promise they would get a lucrative contract out of it.

The Chinese took the tech and gave them the finger on the contract.

They were played like a cheap fiddle, the fine should have been much larger to hammer home the stupidity of the people in control.

Orange San Diego Intel-based Android phone

tmTM

battery life

The review didn't really get very detailed on it. Sure it can loop video and the reviewer got a couple of days out of it.

but all the android apps it uses require emulation, so there's always extra processes running which must drain more juice than the ARM chips.

Menage á tablet: Apple vs Amazon vs Google

tmTM

Use matters

My tablet never leaves the lounge, and 10" is the perfect size to lazily browse the web, e-mail and watch the occasional video while loafing around in front of the telly.

Having said that if I was an on the go, commuter type I would prefer the smaller size for portability.

Yes but it's a step in the right direction, at least it can take me to work and then defiantly return me using petrol.

Versus the Nissan Leaf which may or may not complete both journeys depending on traffic, weather, time of year etc etc.

Self-driving Volvos cover 200km of busy Spanish motorway

tmTM

Slight problem

Who the hell wants to follow a lorry in their car on a motorway??

Now if they can make the lorrys all follow each other and not mess about trying to overtake each other - clogging up the motorway in the process, then I think they'd really be onto something.

I can't see anyone wanting to drive a great distance at 56mph, it'd take forever.

Crazy Texans dunk servers in DEEP FRYERS

Re: The idea is not new

Indeed it's been around for many years with enthusiasts and overclockers.

Usually they pop up mounted in a fish tank, with all the rocks, decorations and even a few plastic fish thrown in for good measure.

Cool to see someone's taken the idea to the server level, in theory it's a very efficient way of keeping things cool.

Nokia's older mobes infringe IPCom patent – court

tmTM

Re: pre-dated the grant

Were the patents not filed a while back by Bosch, I can't understand the 2011 date.

Is this the new way to deal with patent trolls, keep them in court so long that by the time judgement is passed it doesn't matter if you win or loose because you have moved on and developed a workaround.

Punters want BBC iPlayer in TVs, not 3D

tmTM

Re: Already sorted then

I agree, it looks very fake and quite odd.

It's not so much 3D as more obvious, I didn't feel like stuff was flying out of the screen at me, just like certain things were more 'in my face' while other stuff was annoyingly ever so slightly out of focus in the background.

CD: The indestructible music format that REFUSES TO DIE

tmTM

Re: h 2

It's poor speakers in general. The standard ipod headphones are woeful and everything sounds flat and horrible regardless of bitrate, use some nice Sennheisers or Soundmagic earphones and suddenly the difference in bitrate is easy to tell.

Most people are happy with std stuff and low bitrate, it works for them. Makes my ears hurt personally, bad music is bad for your health.

TDK BA100 earphones

tmTM

Sorry but no

TDK just can't make good headphones, and filling them with new tech and slapping a whopping price tag on doesn't change things.

If you want some genuinely good headphones get some SoundMagic E10's or Sennheiser CX-300 II - just make sure they are genuine one's not fakes from eBay or dodgy Amazon dealers.

Apple Store staff outnumber queues as new iPad goes on sale

tmTM

Fanbois?

The terms seems to get some peoples backs up. But when they turn up to buy the item 4 days before it's released I think all of the mocking is appropriate.

The lack of normal stupidity is a good sign, perhaps people have finally realised that queuing at midnight to buy the next, slightly updated version of what you already have is a complete mugs game.

Game Group shares slide under a penny

Facepalm

Yea but

It was convenient how all 3 shops were almost next door to each other.

The group really should have put some thought into how many outlets they need in one place, especially after they bought Gamestation.

There's 3 in my local shopping centre.
