Well, I reckon that if I was a spook and had a bunch of HD from the leader of a terrorist organisation, I'd be jumping about rubbing my hands in glee and generally gloating about all the underlings I was about to capture regardless of whether or not I expected to get anything off those discs.

I know how the story ends BUT have never made it past book 2... I get halfway through book 3 and have to stop before I lose the will to live completely.
I'd have to say that jack Chalkers books have a similar effct upon me.. I reckon he and Tilley came out of the same writing school
oh I dunno... I thought the 1st Chronicles pretty good.. abit wordy and overlong in places but thats a matter of taste/ editing rather then a specific complaint about the writing.
The 2nd Chronicles OTH were an abomination that should never haveseen the light of day.... not unlike the Gap series.....
Re Half-life 2.. interesting suggestion, I wonder if it counts in this list tho' besides.. the bugs in Starship troopers are clearly ant-lions and Galaxy quest has the pointless stamping/ flaming/ squishing device from Quake :D

While I agree with the general premise of your argument, teh reality is that whichever badass squadie gets to play with this gun, will still have a bunch of mates humping around normal guns.

OT. I've not bought DAII mainly cos its not my kind of game but I stopped buying EA related products a long time ago because they were largely crap.
Dr Adder was an appallingly bad book.... it was like he'd gathered up all the bits cut from other more successful books an dthen bound them into a single volume using the original page numbers.
Jeter wouldn't know an original idea if it jumped in front of him waving a flag. The fact that Philip K Dick was his mentor doesn't suprise me because apart from a couple of gems Dicks books are also unreadable. I offer exhibit A "The Zap Gun" but you could pretty much pick any of Dicks books.

Not sure I understand what you're saying here... are you saying that people have your contact details on their mobey's which they've then upoaded to FB? I'm not sure how that would work. Is there a "phonebook" type thingy on FB? like there is for Gmail?
My Mobey, sucks stuff out of FB from MY profile but doesn't put anything back. If it finds a contact on my phone that looks like it might be the same as a FB contact, it'll "join" the 2 and then any FB changes the contact makes is auto sync'd to my phone but my phone does nothing to their FB profile and if a contact on my phone doesn't have an FB contact then there is no interaction between my phone and FB for that contact at all.
A smartphone is not a shop despite it seems the belief that it is to a lot of people. What it actually is is an enabling device.
My smartphone, "enables" me to do stuff that I choose to do, I purchase the services I require from the suppliers, the maker of my smartphone has nothing to do with this transaction.
There is no reason for my hardware manufactureer to be involved in the transaction and likewise why should Apple be involved; had they created a slightly less one sided model, they *may* have got away with it but they didn't and no amount of apologists will make it appear any other way.
So this is a problem entirely of Apple's own making with its closed garden approach. Their control freakery is why they have all those staff hanging around checking stuff, its certainly not the fault of the publishers.

To all those shouting about how easy it is to setup your own / site / forum whatever. You are completely missing the point.
99 times out of 100 these guy's and gal's have no interest in anything to do with IT, what they want is something to allow them to interact about the stuff they do enjoy rather than have the hassle of running a site / forum.. which I'm sure you've all done because I'm sure you all know that the setting up is the smallest part of the problem, the actual work , and I can assure you it does indeed distract from the reason you wanted the site in the first place, is the running of said site.
Things like FB take most of that pain away.
So if all you inverted snobs could just for once get your heads out of your arses and actually READ the article and understand the points being made rather than slag FB / Collared et all for not building their own all singing /dancing web portals.

Most of my usage is data these days, not that I stream videos and the like, web surfin' and email type stuff + texts, very little actual phone call data. I'm not a big user, so would be happy to stick with my current package/price

I dunno whether to be impressed by your ability to bring race into a discussion about the relative virtues of two logos that have only the word "Channel" to distiguish them or to think that perhaps you should maybe take a stroll in the fresh air occassionally and then perhaps you'd realise the world isn't always quite as black as you seem to paint it.

I've never understood Sony's philosophy about anything. I've never bought sony kit. IT always seems very expensive for what it is, granted some of it looks quite sexy, and some of it seems well built although a lot of it isn't, but its never really struck me as good VFM.
They often seem to take standard functionality and then wrap it all up in some kind of proprietry doodad that cost twice as much as the non-proprierty version. EG memory sticks versus SD cards, same underlying tech but totaly incompatible formats.
And nowadays it seems barely a day goes by without hearing some tale about how SONY are gonna sue the arse of the world + uncle.
This stuff DOES cost them customers because every convo I have with friends where we talk about this sort of stuff, sony are *always* on the end of a slating.
Not that I enjoy finding myslef on RyanAirs side BUT the said students know Ryan "we will charge you for anything we can" Air aren't exactly an unknown quantity when it comes to spurious charges and I think we're glossing over the fact that the said students arrived VERY late after the flight was closed and pretty much every airline would have refused them entry to the aircraft.
The fault here is ALL on the side of the students but don't let the facts get in the way of a good RyanAir kicking.
