Putting a linux kernel into a linux distro makes it a Linux, putting a linux kernel under a java VM doesn't.
You put a car engine into a car chasis and then you get a car. Trying to call Android a Linux is like putting a car enging into a speedboat chasis and then trying to call it a car. It just makes no sense.
Go to your local computer shop and let them make you one from standard parts. Or just DIY your own, since all you need to make a common PC is case+MB+CPU+RAM+graphic card+HDD+monitor+KB+mouse+speakers......I mean, just how hard can it be for an average El Reg reader!?
Much cheaper than any OEMs and no software pre-installed!
What Dell claimed is that this is the thinest 15in "PC", not "LAPTOP"!!
And like many ppl said, a Mac is NOT a PC!!
So if you can't find a 15in that is thinner than this and comes with Linux or Windows pre-installed, then there is NOTHING wrong about Dell's claim.
"Download it legally for free."
don't kid yourself pal.
"Run it on a clapped out old PC"
ever heard of something call Windows for Legancy PC?
"Give it to my kids without worrying they might break it."
suppose you don't run Linux as root, then Windows only does it better if you don't run it as Administrator.
