'Replace crypto-couple Alice and Bob with Sita and Rama'

Leave it to india

to just take something that already exists and try to modify it and make it indian. ffs, if it was a swedish person he'd incorporate the nordic gods. It's just some sorry guy who teaches cryptography and finds that using a cultural bias that favors him is better than a cultural bias that favors americans.

A good point was made at https://subversivebytes.wordpress.com/2012/10/03/cryptographys-alice-and-bob-are-here-to-stay/ that if he wants to use indian mythology then he should come up with his own crypto algo and use impose his own cultural bias.

proactive response

One of the banks listed was Blom Bank and they seemed to have taken a proactive response to the threat. First off as a preventive measure they have OTPs sent to mobile phones. Secondly they added a detection script to their internet banking site that checks for palida font as was described by kaspersky as one way to distinguish if you were infected and show a warning to users. It seems it brought on results.

At least it's nice to see that there is some positive response. But nice touch on that palida font strategy for the malware makers.

Re: Great now we have a child

Linus doesn't have to be nice, he doesn't have to act like a kid to get his message across. There is a difference between telling someone to go fu*k themselves and saying the same thing without swearing.

He's done similar things with Gnome and SuSE but didn't get to this level. Sorry but you treat people the way you want to be treated.

Great now we have a child

So now we have the creator of Linux kernel acting like a 13 year old child pulling the middle finger and saying things like F-U to corporate entities. Now it's all public and permanently imprinted on the net and on his life.

Like damn, he could have been a little less vulgar about it. He could have said the same thing without being a little kid about it. So now he gave Linux a reputation of being rude little sh*t when things bother them. Linus forgets that his actions reflect on the entire community, I wonder what RedHat, IBM, Intel ...etc think about this since they are some of the largest contributors to the kernel.

Thumbs down because I expected better.

I need to multitask, but Windows 8's Metro won't let me

Multi-tasking includes proof-reading?

"Multitasking may not always a good idea," yes.. it may not always a good idea. Do you take the time to proof-read what you write?

categorizing

No, not thats it's hard to find, it just seems the logical next step to go. There are already many domains to mean different things like .com, .org, .biz, .tv, .info, .gov, .edu, .net, and probably more. So, at least to me, it seems logical to group pornographic sites under .xxx

The iranians can use that if they want, works great in companies for bypassing websense :) lol

Facebook fudges policy in page-purging pickle

upholding facebook policy is reactive

"However, a little over an hour after we asked Facebook about their policies in respect of taking pages down, this page disappeared – along with all threads condemning Facebook for not removing it, or even discussing it."

hahaha, just shows that facebook reacts to money and the possibility of bad public pr. So basically this shows us that if we want facebook to be true to their policies we have to check on them and alert them every time.

Why does this sound like government? If we don't catch their violations they'll do it anyways :(

taxpayer = slaves

Doesn't it suck that there needs to be a Freedom of Information Act to access information from a public institution funded by taxpayers money ? And what does the taxpayers do? They pay more taxes silently. They allow the passing of more oppressive laws so that they can break them and get into trouble.
