1 in 5 STEM bros whinge they can't catch a break in tech world they run

Re: It's the Parents' Fault, Partly

The Nordic countries disproved this and found that the reverse was true. Women rebelled and went into traditional roles more.

Over down under...

In Australia the firefighter tests have been changed to make it easier for women to join. Now, rather than being able to carry a 90Kg weight a short distance (to simulate carrying a small person) it is now dragging a 30Kg weight a tiny distance.

So...More women will now pass the test but you're more likely to die in a fire since your firefighter will probably be unable to lift anything bigger than a toddler.

Some male firefighters released a video applauding the change, while the women are attacking it for making them token firefighters and lowering standards...So the men are scared of being called sexists, while the women are rightfully complaining the change has made everyone less safe.

Can't we go back to a meritocracy where the person who gets the job is the best qualified? Some in the STEM fields are already bunging women £10K to go into the job and discouraging males from applying. Reverse discrimination is still discrimination.

Well done Jacob.

"The best decision to make is the right one, the second best decision to make is the wrong one. The worst decision to make is no decision."

You shouldn't make any decision until you have all the facts. And right or wrong is subjective.

It's a protectionist gravy train that hides it's expenditure, treads on governments to keep them in line, and sacked the last person to do their records after he never signed them off once.

After Brexit expect it to become really protectionist and drive away business. They still haven't said a word about Spain battering old Catalonian ladies out voting either.

No wonder Marvin the robot was miserable: AI will make the rich richer – and the poor poorer

Tigra 07

Re: AC

I don't agree with that. Automation and mass production makes us pay lower prices, so making us all richer. Just take a look at the massive crop yields and lower prices on everything mass produced. Hand made products are a luxury.

The only negative i see is that the further robotisation of the workforce sucks for the people who lose their jobs. Everyone else benefits.

Tigra 07

Re: Steve

A guaranteed basic income will have to become a reality by then. You can't have 80% of the population surviving on foodstamps and housing benefit.

Tigra 07

Re: AI will make the rich richer – and the poor poorer

This has always been the case. Mass production and the printing press started this and only a fully robot workforce will end it.

Get used to saying "Sorry, i only buy from humans" on your doorstep in future.

I'm not bothered where she came from. I'm bothered by millionaire/billionaire socialites in posh all white neighbourhoods (that have never taken a single refugee i'll bet) lecturing us to take in more refugees, keep the uncontrolled immigration flowing, and that everyone should pay for this.

Lead by example.

PS: And you need to learn the difference between bitching and hypocracy when talking of a billionaire demolishing needed housing, living in a huge empty house that lectures us constantly to take in more people we don't have housing for.

Re: Punishing discrimination is not discrimination

Locking them up does the same. And there's solitary confinement and secure wings for the really dangerous crims. Either the state kills them as a punishment, or it's to save money on housing them for decades.

Social Justice Warrior...You know...Those hippies who take gender studies instead of real qualifications, end up unemployable and spend every waking hour protesting something.

Irony alert: They're usually white and complaining how white people are evil and privileged for daring to be white. Their agenda sees a white homeless person as more privileged in society than a rich person of a different skin colour.

See Lily Allen and JK Rowling for more info: Privileged, rich, live in fancy mansions in posh areas. Always complaining about immigration and issues we should pay for, but not them personally. That we should take all refugees that ask, as long as they don't have to live near them.

With warships i'd imagine you pile as many missiles and visible weapons on the thing as possible before the buyers turn up. Then when they buy it you strip the thing down to it's shell, even taking the light fittings, copper wire, and batteries out of the remote.
