You either have a selective memory or are a liar. Immigration from Romania and Bulgaria was way above official forecasts of 5000-13,000 people over 5 years because Blair never put controls in place. It turned out to be over a million people in 5 years just from those two countries.
I have a Twitter account. It's full of people with different interests and political affiliations arguing and moaning over who is more racist/sexist/xenophobic/homophobic.
Can't we just ban this so called "social" media for the health of society? If anything it's antisocial. Facebook especially.

Step 3: Lock them up for the good of public security / Alternatively blackmail them for money.

They've done it for the last 15 years. People are now used to it so It's not entirely our fault.
1- It's hard to get money from people when you've been giving away your product for free for a generation.
2- Your product needs to be worth what you're charging or people will go elsewhere.
3- Blocking Ads is just as much a security decision these days.
So the old news media need to produce a decent product and somehow manage to get people to whitelist them or pay them. Hijacking their machines isn't a long term solution. I'd argue it's not a short term solution with the many implications and fluctuating prices of what they're mining. The Telegraph gives you a bunch of full high quality articles and a quarter of some others for free. To get the rest requires subscriptions. This model is decent and currently works.
The problem isn't "for-profit" vs "not-for-profit". It's eithical profit vs unethical profit.
Amazon doesn't produce a profit and is deeply unethical in their business model.
Banks produce lots of profit unethically.
Your general Mom and Pop stores are probably much more ethical plus they produce profits.
TFL is just a lobby group for Black Cab drivers. They were complaining earlier in the week that electric cars and self driving cars would destroy their revenue and should be restricted.
Alternative idea - get rid of TFL since it's first priority is protecting it's revenue stream and not transport.

Despite what feminists say you can't "have it all". Spending less time at work *will* mean you earn less than a man who works more. It's not a pay gap, it's an earnings gap.
OAPs don't use ATMs. They get their money from the Post Office, converted into pennies, and then go to Tesco to spend it, creating massive queues and therefore creating cashier jobs in the local economy.
The rest of their time is spent in IKEA taking advantage of the free refills on Tea and Coffee and stealing little packets of sugar (speaking from personal experience).
