Furious Apple revokes Facebook's enty app cert after Zuck's crew abused it to slurp private data

RE: Luke Worm

"Did Facebook have an app like that for Android also? If yes, what is Google doing about it?"

Yes, the BBC reported that the app is also available on Android. And no, Google has so far said and done nothing about this. Facebook is happy to apologise for getting caught, while carrying out the slurp on Android phones.

Re: hmmm dick enlargement

I'm reminded of a joke about a man who found a magic lamp containing a genie who grants 3 wishes, but with consequences.

The man asks first to never have to work again.

Poof - He's now missing a leg and gets disability.

For his second wish, after evaluating his new disability, he asks to never have to waste time going to the toilet again.

Poof - He now has a stoma and piss bag strapped to him.

Finally he wishes that his dick will touch the floor.

Poof - His other leg disappears.

Targeted advertising is more benefit to the ad slinger than the customer. It's the friendly name they give to the fact that they know what you look at, what you buy, what you wank to - but in return the adverts we give you will be for those ugly socks you buy from China, instead of "busty milfs available in your area" and the dick enlargement ads everyone else gets.

Re: So predictable !

"Google privacy policy is very clear on what they sell, and it's NOT personal data"

Yes, Google would never violate people's privacy for profit like, say, hoovering up the WiFi details of millions of people.

Google has tonnes of information on people, and even if they're not anonymising it and selling it, they're still giving it directly to the NSA, who then leak it or share it with other agencies who could be reselling or leaking it.

Do NOT use Google.

"They don't sell your information. You really don't know how things work and clearly don't understand anonymised data"

So they don't sell your data, they just sell your data? Word to the wise - anonymised data can still identify you, and at least Google, Netflix, and Facebook are aware of this.

Re: Lesson learned already?

This has even more sinister undertones when it's pointed out that Microsoft is actually paying news sites to request themselves be delisted from Google. Microsoft is attempting to take Google's ad revenue from these news sites by bribing them. Surely that's anti-competitive since they own MSN News?

Tigra 07

Lesson learned already?

We've already seen the tug of war over article 11. Newspapers and News sites argued for Google to delist them to prevent them taking a cut of revenue. The result was an immediate sharp fall in their web traffic and they begged Google to relist them (Turns out a large cut of the revenue is better than none).

I don't know if you've been paying attention, but starting wars in the Middle East with no say from the public is certainly more damaging than buillding a wall - with the approval of the voters. Especially when he's asking for $5 billion for the wall, versus the $1 Trillion cost of just the Iraq war, which fucked up multiple surrounding countries.

At least Trump wants to keep US soldiers in the US. If Killary was elected there'd likely be a war with another Middle Eastern country to deal with now.

Re: RE: Charlie Clark

"If Google ever does switch from Android to Fuchsia, and that is a big if, they will have to do a lot of work to get manufacturers to come along"

In my example, Google would continue manufacturing their own devices and not allow anyone else access to Fuchsia. People would have the choice between Google's Android Successor (Fuchsia), Apple's Ios, Samsung's Tizen, or Everyone else's vastly different and out of date Android variants that don't necessarily work well together, or support the latest apps on Google's store (likely leading to more stores being installed on phones all competing (this is already happening), and more malware outbreaks damaging the Android brand name).

Ultimately in my scenario Google would probably win since they have the money to keep Fuchsia dominant over Tizen and Abandroid.

Tigra 07

Re: Too late

"Out of date components" they spec their own chips so how does that work"

At least in the case of their Macbooks it was shown they were still using defective, badly designed components 5 years after their internal documents showed they were shit. Louis Rossman has spent years documenting the shit they sell at premium prices, and the horrible way they force obsolescence into it.

Another person (I don't recall the name) created his own headphone jack in an iphone after apple claimed there was no space to do so, and got it working. He's just 1 person, not a multi-billion dollar company. It's greed, pure and simple

RE: BigSLitleP

Also speaks volumes about the scale of corruption in that case then. Cheaper to ship an artificial product in a plastic bottle, than build a pipe to funnel water.

Tigra 07

Re: RE: Charlie Clark

By "Lock down" i meant Google could screw over all the manufacturers and become the only one creating phones running Fuschia. In that situation Android would suffer from a lack of development and Samsung might even switch to Tizen and eventually lead to Android being abandoned by anyone but hobbyists.

Tigra 07
