I'm one of those who has been directly affected by the oil downturn and yes, when it comes back around, I will make damn sure the lost money and time is made up.
But give up the dream of no one contracting. All industries are moving that way and have been for decades Fewer and fewer companies hire permanently.

This is the America I've seen so far. I really hope it gets better choices in 4 years time, because this is a dangerous time for progression. He even has a climate change skeptic as his science advisor... He may was we'll be a creationist for all that says. Not good.
The trend has been getting worse for the last 35 years. Forget about it getting better anytime soon.

Perhaps this will turn out to be a very useful lesson for the US electorate. Long-term I mean. Letting Trump screw up might be a way of showing the hard-of-understanding that all these "easy solutions" are a fantasy. A useful lesson, as long as it doesn't lead us to a nuclear war that is...
That didn't work with Reagan, Bush 1 and 2, deregulation, tax breaks for offshoring jobs and destruction of workers rights and Big Recession. Why would it work now?

I remember reading at one time that the typical education major in the US ranked in the bottom 40% of their class despite a course load was less than rigorous. For example, a person preparing to teach math was not required major in Math and only required to take the basic required math courses.
My experience has tended to confirm that, as a group, they're not the sharpest knives in the drawer.
The reason being low pay and much abuse. You get what you pay for. Nobody in their right mind is a teacher in the U.S.

They have literally thrown the American people under the bus and sold out to foreign countries for their own monetary gain. They have deregulated industry to point they are killing people.
