Unrepairable products or ones that are overly expensive to repair exist ONLY to screw the customer. Punter, business or government customer.
Planned obsolescence wasn't enough. Nor was new style or design. Nor was short warranties and only being able to send the product back to the manufacturer and not the retail store to get it serviced and repaired.
When it comes to business, just about everything is a scam.
And yet morons keep buying this stuff.

When you realize that not one single company is looking for skills, but compliant ass kissers who excel at group think and who will make perfect, unwitting scapegoats.
In the last 20 years, ANY job form or interview that used pop psychology assessment, got the big "up yer bum" from me. Same with personal life questions. My life outside of work is nunya goddamn bizness.
To answer your question, it's a public health issue.
Do you like diseased rats? Because that how you get diseased rats. And poisonous snakes. And fleas. And ticks. And roaches. And many other nasty, dangerous vermin of various sizes.
So no, contrary to popular crackpot beliefs, you DO NOT have the right to endanger public health.
In rural, far less populated areas? Do as you please. But cities? Nope.
Having supported my share of home workers, they are the perfect targets.
Little to none security, security updates or much of anything else. But they WILL call to figure out why their ISP isn't working. I smile every time I tell them there is not a damn thing I can do about their ISP or home modem/router as it's not company kit.
