You missed an important fact, it was 23 275kv towers in the backbone of the grid.
As a resident of SA I'm sick to death of the rubbish anti renewables nuts have said about this failure,
the real blame belongs to the Liberal govt who privatised our ETSA power provider years ago.
We pay a lot for our power lines as the distribution suppliers said they had installed a "gold plated" network.
All they did was squib on maintenance, and directly cause this failure.

Are so religious in their fervour they will ignore the many problems. The iphone 4S i have is the worst mobile phone I have ever owned. Poor battery Life, mysterious intermittent loss of entries in contacts file, personal hotspot that disappears erratically.

I have just started doing live sound engineering again after a long break. I hate the modern trend to have compression on the compression. WHen mixing live I use the minimum possible compression, and people at gigs have been coming up to me and saying, "Thats the best sound I have heard here in years" There is not one digital device in the signal chain.
People get used to the quality they listen to regularly, and the relatively poor sound of MP3 makes a live band thru a cranking all analog system sound awesome to them. Its a bit like hammond organ/leslie simulator, they can sound really impressive on their own, but when put up against the real thing, there is no comparison. The way the Leslie effects the air in a room is impossible to simulate. Good to see so many well informed posts here too!

I have to admit to a brief grin when the safely shutdown reastors went BOOM and blew their buildings apart.
Lets start a fund to send Lewis to Fukushima to fix the problem by himself, he wont need any protective clothing or anything.
All the ranting wont for a moment convince ordinary people as they have been taught you cant trust scientists by climate deniers.

My parents have a 2KW solar system, and have been credited rather than billed for the last 2 quarters. The warranty is 20years so payback will be well before warranty ends.
Is there no lie Nuclear shills on ELReg which is infected with them will go to deny reality.
Page has simply misled and misrepresented repeatedly about this incident. He has as much credibility as Mickey Mouse on this issue.

Regular readers know all about ElRegs loose connection with the truth when it comes to the environment.
Watching the nuclear shills desperately trying to recover the lost gains of public approval over the last 20 years, by trying to minimise this disaster is fun fun fun.
Luckily the general pulic shows far more wisdom than supposedly intelligent ElReg readers and will take a lot of convincing to allow any more Nuclear reactors to be built.
Now you can all jump up and down, make up "facts" like Lewis does, but the bulk of people will be put off Nuclear for a long time.
