How are the management team still in a job?

If I was a Project Manager and this was my project, I'd have been pushed out of the door a *long* time ago!

I'd be really intrigued to know some demographics of the people who are commenting on this article; they all appear to be audiophiles with old radios that you could take to the South Pole for 37 years without needing replacement.

To add a very small bit of balance, I have DAB in my car and one bedroom receiver, and in these environments where I'm either concentrating on the road or trying not to wake up, they're fine; I've not felt the need to switch to FM on either of them for as long as I can remember.

In between refusing to get up and driving places, I listen to music on my Sonos speakers, where I stream radio (mainly from California: KOST 103.5 is pretty good for feel-good chart music), play digital audio files or Amazon 'Stations' depending on what mood I'm in.

So, all my music listening is "digital" in this sense, but not all of it is broadcast radio.

Will be moving my business account just as soon as I have access to it...!

Not just today..

Actually it's been flakey all week - it was down on Monday and Tuesday at times too.

That said, I have been very pleased with how they perform normally, so am cutting them some slack this week - it must be a proper nasty gremlin to be causing problems three days on the trot.

I know that the domain registration side of 123-reg has yet to be affected, but I'm in the process of moving all my domains away from them just to be on the safe side.

It doesn't make very good reading really.

Maybe iPads just have a longer life?

I have an iPad "3" - I use it every day, I take it with me to work, and play games on it in the evening occasionally.

It still works just fine - sure, it struggles with the frame rate on some of the newer games, but most of the time it does exactly fine - checking my email, updating my calendar, browsing Facebook etc.

Will I replace it? Yes of course. With an iPad? Absolutely. But not yet - I see no reason to upgrade unless the software stops supporting it or it dies a horrible death.

The relentless push for updated models just doesn't apply to me, and I wonder how many other people feel the same way? Perhaps there will be a surge in iPad sales when they all *need* replacing, and then drop back again?

I didn't think Boot Camp was really that widely used?

As per the title - I didn't think Boot Camp was that widely used; not when you have the likes of Parallels and VMware so you can run a different OS in a VM.

Can't say I've used Boot Camp in a very long time (but was using my Windows 10 VM only yesterday)..

Anything like this is good

I think that any steps to create a diverse and equal workforce should be applauded; yes, you could say that money isn't the answer, or telling people about it (like the BBC - "we're officially banning all-male panels on comedy shows") leads to tokenism, but you have to start somewhere before it becomes the norm. Any effort to move towards making diversity and equality the norm is a Good Thing in my opinion :)

Middle finger

Much as I appreciate that Linus is not known for his diplomacy or tact, it doesn't mean that El Reg has to plaster the picture of him giving the middle finger all over the website. Where I work that makes the whole of The Register NSFW and there could be more organisations like mine, and it becomes more prominent because of the site redesign too.

Just a polite request to consider where your audience accesses your site, that's all.

The one thing that Tesco forgot a long time ago was customer service. I've been into Tesco many times when the staff at the checkouts have been chatting to each other without even acknowledging me, and then just holding out their hand for payment. Based on this, I refuse to shop in Tesco any more - I can't be the only one that is like this. Sainsburys' terminals even says "Greet Customer" before products are put through - a cheery 'hello' can make all the difference in my opinion.

I've just had my MAC code; Be tried to get me to stay with a tempting offer from Sky - apparently I can get Sky fibre (even though there are not any FTTC cabinets in the viscinity and the BT Infinity checker says I can't get FTTC).

The device feels as if it's a decade too late - not in terms of functionality but because it's yet another add-on box. At the moment, with the integration of Freeview / Freesat / iPlayer into Smart TVs, isn't the general trend to reduce the number of devices on the shelf below the telly?

Integrate it into a telly - yes, great. Or make it into a USB dongle so it can plug in to a PC / Mac or an existing telly that has a USB slot (assuming that kind of capability exists).

I stopped using my Touchpad just two weeks ago - I just got fed up of the pauses in mail app that caused me to delete multiple emails instead of one etc.

Shame really, as I really wanted WebOS and the TouchPad to be a market leader rather than a has been :(

I tried CyanogenMod 7 and 9 on it, and while it seemed to run OK there were still bugs that I experienced, mainly around wifi.

Again shame, as this could have given the tablet a new lease of life.
