Regomiser needs help this week
Ringo is the best you could do? Has the Regomiser been connected to CHATGpt or something??

I supported just such a lab for 20+ years. I remember needing hubs to connect MIDI devices from an age long gone. It was a cross your fingers moment anytime there was an update, either to the OS or the software in use. Some of the horror stories are coming back to me now, I better stop this post...
This business scheme is old, I once worked for a guy who had a business that was slowly dying. Once one supplier would cut him off due to non-payment, he would move on to the next. Before I left, I was taking calls from about a dozen vendors and suppliers demanding payment, and threatening collection. See Icon! Years later I heard he had big IRS problems... Are you listening Melonhead? The IRS never forgets!
I tried a lot of things, I would get messages like, you seem to be in a different region since your last login, try logging in from that location?!! WFT!! I moved two countries away. Just hop in the car and drive 14 hours to get back to where you think I should be? Then it cried about the device I was now trying to use... Please use the last device... Of course, the last device used was a work provided device 14 hours away! Good thing that addy only received tech bulletins and newsletters, but still, google knows I like technology!
I have a google account that I can't get back into, no matter what I try. Part of the reason is the recovery account was a previous work email, and I no longer have access to that account. My ex-boss was even nice enough to re-enable my account for a hour to try to recover that google account, no dice.
Will be nice to know that they will delete it all? Hmm...
The Yo-Yo local printer... We also went through the no local printers song and dance. We removed all the local printers, because we had secure printing at MFPs*. A few counsellors and HR types made a case for local printers, you know really sensitive docs etc. The local printers returned to a select few. A few months later, we're back in the ink business, and some bean counter raises a flag with the facilites manager, facilities manager goes to IT manager, local printers are taken away. Sometime later I'm in one of these offices, and 'a' local printer is back!!! I ask about it, and get the "Oh, it's my printer from home" schtick... I took the Sgt. Shultz way out...
*It was amazing how many people were too busy to get up, and walk 10 meters for their print job...
Something about copyright... This happened in NL and I can only find Dutch pages supporting this action. Here's a translation of a portion of it:
Housing the new storage areas in the existing exhibition spaces, however, leads to resistance from Verheijen, who successfully invokes his copyright in a lawsuit and eventually manages to extract a financial settlement of €1.5 million. The museum then proceeds with the implementation of Neutelings Riedijk's design.
I once had to troubleshoot a hyperactive interactive screen. This screen had been in a classroom for a few years with no problems. Cue a new school year, and there's a new instructor in the room, really a great user of technology, he was smart and cheerful, most of the time. Once this hyperactive screen started disrupting his lessons, he wasn't so happy.
It only took us a couple of days to figure out that the sun was hitting the sensors around the bezel. When we proposed a solution to the facilities group, they said no way! We wanted window shades in to be put up, but being a newer building, they had to run it by the architect, which was shot down because it would lessen the aesthetics of the room. So, we put cardboard blinders in the spots on the bezel where the sun interrupted the interactive signal, that looked oh so much nicer that proper shades on the windows...
The best thing we ever got was a Bluetooth speaker, it's portable, sounds reasonably good for being about the size of your fist. Now, Simon, get out of my mind! The worst were the USB keys that were shaped like a key! Horrible design and sloooow. And the previous disk shaped housing where the drive swiveled out really sucked with only 512mb... If you're so hard up to find a suitable gift and fail so miserably, maybe you need to save the money for the company?
Many, many El Reg readers have no association with, or long since terminated any association with facebook.
I would add IG and TT and Twiterverse, but hey, that's where the shiny attention getting things are... I'm sure there are more. I'm old, and either I don't care, or my memory is going...
I'm more interested in the Bowie and Fogerty comments, and didn't someone quote the band America with the stardust bit?
"A good" friend of mine is a huge Beatles fan, and one birthday, he received as a gift, a pack of Beatles collectors cards. One of these cards was black and white pic of Paul, with his hand on his cheek, and looking oh so dreamy. Other friends and I made sport of that photo, so the "good friend" had photo copies of it made. Pretty soon we started finding these photo copies in our coat pockets, in our cars, and even in our mail boxes! It was all good fun! We called that getting "Dreamy Paul'd"
Not too long ago, I found one of those photo copies in a photo album, and have snapped a photo of it, and now I do the Digital Dreamy Paul now and again...
How many politicians are still in their original positions after 12 years? And did the successor pick up the ball and run? Or did they do what they wanted ( as all politicians do these days, instead of what the constituency wants? ) and say it was a mess before I started, and I have no clue how to move forward? And pass it on to the next seat holder?
Hot potato anyone?? Musical Chairs???
Where is the totally clueless icon when we need one?? GET with it Reg.com
Once, long ago, I was in way over my head, I didn't know the app in question at all, I told a PA to a D level that her computer needed to be shutdown* and unplugged for 10 minutes to drain the capacitors, I needed a few more minutes to read up on her App's error message. And was praying to the reboot gods for assistance too. When I returned to her desk, I found my boss clacking away on the keyboard, he looked up without missing a beat and said, "The capacitors are drained, and I've been able to correct the error." I could tell there was a smile under his beard somewhere...
*Shutdown as in shutdown any other questions I couldn't answer, she was the PA to a Director... I didn't want to look incompetent!
I don't think I would have the brassneck to lecture a self-made multi-billionaire on how to run a business or make money.
Self-made through inheritance? and didn't his family make this fortune through questionable channels too? It seems that the internet has been scrubbed of articles that confirm or deny this in full.

Are these the same ads that pop up on dubious news sites? Served with a side of Malware with trojan cherry on top?? I'll pay the Cupertino tax instead... I'm writing this on an 11 year old macmini, it was free, a gift from a friend who upgraded 6 or 7 years ago.
