Department of Defense has been granted a short-term waiver from the blockade until September 30.
Keeping up appearances an all that... you know!
And on September 30, they ask for another extension, and provide plenty of excuses as to why it didn't get done.
They pretend now because of the current business\political relationship with China. If they can wait it out until say ~ January when the new regime takes over, it may be a moot point. Someone will hit CTL Z and undo the stupid things that have been done in the last 4 years
The Surface Duo isn't such an outlandish idea, but Microsoft has to convince punters the form factor is worth having

I would have never thought two screens on a mob would be great
Until I was in a situation recently, where two separate screens would have been a life saver. While traveling on foot in unfamiliar cities, I found myself opening and minimizing apps way too much, when seeing two side by side would have been great. Realtime map open on one side, and email, web browser etc open on the other.
Well, what are we waiting for? Three weeks later, Windows Embedded Standard 7 still didn't have the answer

Light sensors!
Once had an interactive screen with sensors around the bezel, and during the fall months, the sun would come in the window just right, and "blind" the sensor and all kinds of interesting things happened to the interactivity. Small cardboard triangle taped over the corner of the bezel was the quick and dirty fix.

Would be nice, I'm sure Apple has already dumped cash into a high yield account of some sort, and will earn interest. Also, you're right, they may appeal until the cows come home, and by then they will have lots of interest on their initial investment. What about if they do get off the hook? Chaa Ching!
