That depends on the type of Club-Fed he is sent to do his time. He is not a violent offender, no murders or assaults. He would most likely end up in a minimum - medium security lock up. It won't be a picnic, but he probably won't be asking for soap on a rope from his family as often...
Back in the 90's my friend's family owned a bar in the Chicago Loop near the Chicago Board of Trade, they were open for lunch. He told me the 'beggars' would come in to cash in their coins, it was not uncommon for them to cash in $100.00 at a time, he loved it because he rarely needed to hit the bank for coins.
Agreed, the IE case is in a different class of dirty pool. Apple is making easy to use(get roped into) all of their services, nothing wrong with that, good marketing really. Everything is still available in the Appstore, Apple hasn't banned Spotify yet. The smart user will use what they use, Let the buyer beware...
I completely understand the "30% in app purchase burn" felt by the sellers in the Appstore.
Adobe just forced a large number of people to sign\cough up for CreativeCrapCloud, instead of riding on the already purchased earlier versions. I wish I was a heartless bastard like Adobe et al, I can think of lots of ways to squeeze the cash out of people, I just can't\won't pull the trigger.
Drinking the Kool-Aid. I gotta have the newest! I'll wait in line!
Or as in my case, 2 iPhones over 8 years, and the boy is using my old iPhone 5, (which was used and free) and loving it. My current SE was purchased used, it will need a new battery in due time, but this model is pretty easy to replace the battery, like the 5. Apple hasn't always been unrepairable, just in recent memory. I love the Unibody MacBook, that model should have stayed in production for the education sector.
Software vendors need to get on the stick... I've heard it a million times, Apple screwed us! But when put in perspective, it's the software developer\vendor that needs to stay current. Time marches on, and so does technology. I've had a handful of software that won't run on Win10... can we turn that argument around then??
While I feel getting your salary slashed due to an unprecedented situation is just bad business, I get it. What they are basically saying is, we are paying you X to do the job, and %Y is housing allowance adjusted on the housing cost in locale where you live. I still don't like it applied to a live situation. Maybe saying, new policy, any new hire is subjected to our new structure due to the current situation, but "grandfather" all those who were already in the game.
Once had a similar issue. Desktop wouldn't boot up properly, worked at the location for a while, and finally told the user I needed to take it to my office for deeper inspection. Damn thing booted while sitting on our workbench. Moved it back, and no booty! Back to the workbench, boots fine! Turned out to be either a power cable, or a dodgy power strip, because I took the power cable from the work bench, and went straight to the mains and bypassed the other cables. I took the cable and powerstrip and chopped the plugs off and binned them. You don't know how many times we've binned cables, only to have the cleaners and facilities guys bring them back and ask why? Now we destroy them.
