Darwin is chuckling along... The only thing missing is the 'Hold my beer" moment.

"Ok. He told them about the plan, they said this was good with them, even telling him that some people were using the backup/test server."*
Before the other shoe fell, I figured the fail over would have happened in between issuing the shutdown command and making his way to the donuts. It would have been nice to be brought up to speed*
"El Reg is originally a British publication, still evident in style and humour. Personally I still think the move from .co.uk to.com was a mistake."
Yes, El Reg to Reg.com... It's been a gradual slide for many years, insidious in way actually. I remember pissing myself laughing with tears streaming down my cheeks at some of the humor of days gone by... not so much these days.
Disclaimer: I'm an American who lived in Western Europe for 25 years.
But by the time SP3 made a debut, I was neutral, it worked, people could get their work done. My manager piloted Vista, brave soul he was! We rode XP to the end, perhaps a bit longer?, it was oh so long ago... In order to be Win7 ready, which in the end didn't take as much work as we were led to believe. My Windows Desktop experience since then is also a Winter Olympics skiing event.
"Do not enter: spoiled by idiots"
Can't really improve on this...
Although, I heard the theory put forth that, some gubbermint leaders know for sure the extraterrestrials are real, and think if we ever got our shit together they would visit us en mass and bring their Illudium Q-36 Explosive Space Modulator, and that is unacceptable to the status quo, so they continue to waste resources and wage war just because they think it will keep the aliens away.
Pffft... Rank amateurs, never, never schedule any production anything on a Friday! No updates, no patches, no upgrades, no migrations, just no! Use Fridays for cleaning up tickets and finishing old business, ease into the weekend ;-} No manager in his right mind wants to call out $upport on a Saturday, because Friday's actions went pear shaped... Wednesday was always my target day... one day to fix it yourself, then another day to call for help!
I've recently noticed that my personal gmail has crossed the line into an area more than just personal comms, I've made the (in hindsight) mistake of using that email for some personal professional stuff like insurance and pension. I'm in no position to host my own mail server at this time, so it looks like a paid account somewhere to disassociate from gmail for these important\personal comms... In the end it will probably be cheaper than hosting my own email.
I have added this to my list of crap to get done...
If, and I mean IF there are so many of these partial and intact craft, surely a civilian would find something, post it on YT IG OR TT and the world would know about it? OR are the Tech companies in on the conspiracy? Not plausible... too many loose lips. I think this guy is looking for a show on Twatter next to that guy from FOX... the guy with a last name as a first name...
Yes, the same number has been assigned to two people with the same name who emigrated from Korea if I'm not mistaken...
and my memory still works... https://nextshark.com/ssa-korean-immigrants-same-social-security-number
And as far using the SSN as a personal identifier, it was never meant to be. It's been abused like the redheaded step child since I first started working in 1978. It was my employee number at many places. It was supposed to only be used for the SSAdministration, or so I was informed many decades ago.
Always keep one of everything! Sometimes two or three! One of my previous bosses loved the idea, and it came in handy. Then he left, and the new boss said "Get all this old crap out of the storage room!" Before we could comply we were presented with a need for terminator of some sort, my colleague said, we have one! And lo and behold it saved the day. I got to keep my hoard of old parts, but I did have to scale it back.
* I learned it from my grandpa, he was a part time television repair man back in the 50's and 60s. He had drawers and drawers full of tubes, it was my job to test all the tubes taken from dead TVs. When my dad passed away, I found a trove of "Just in case something breaks" bits and bobs.
Icon for stop throwing out working parts!!
Don't turn blue! Don't hold your breath! You might get a response from Apple before Twatter replies to Reg.com about the short comings... And I doubt all of the viewers were there because they support Ron De-sanitary napkin... Some were there with popcorn enjoying Twatter implode! I'm sure some of those viewers will post here with their experience!
Yes, I have all those great extensions, and a PIHole on my home network.... so, even if they get my search history, they will be very disappointed. Most of my searches these days are for "what else did this actor star in?" "What other bands did this musician play in?" "What are the definitions of this word?"
It can go very wrong... Even with people! On many occasions in my life, people have completely mistaken me for someone else. I met a guy at a party that was almost my twin, and we even have the same first name. Fast forward a couple of weeks, the health club I belonged to hired a new receptionist. I walked up to the counter to sign in, and the girl half looks up and says "What the hell are you doing here?" I look at her and say I'm a member of the club. She takes a second look at me and says "OMG, I thought you were my brother," the same guy I had met a few weeks earlier. Needless to say, when I asked her out, she said no! Fast forward 15 years, I'm in Rome, and an Italian woman comes up to me on the street and starts talking to me like she knew me(my wife at the time was not pleased!). I spoke in English, and she realized her mistake, 2 minutes later we walked past my twin on the same street.
Cue the Mistake song!!
