But there are commercial chargers already out there that will do it in less then 10. Typical range for an EV at the moment is about 150 miles, double or treble that and get the charge times to below 5 minutes and there'll be no appreciable difference between taking a long journey in an EV vehicle or a petrol one.

I didn't think about this until your post, but I've worked in a windows heavy industrial environment where downtime is costed in the millions per day. I think a scenario where PLCs can be infected by a virus from a windows machine will quite frankly terrify some project managers.
Wouldn't it be funny if the Stuxnet virus was the thing to end windows as an industrial OS?
Doubly hilarious if it used backdoors installed into windows by the US government :D

As with the Deep Water Horizon, the Piper Alpha and Chernobyl the safety systems were disabled by human beings. No matter how clever the system is there will be a human dumb enough to bypass it. Although modern safety systems make the possibility of an accident very small, if the severity means that an area the size of Scotland has to be evacuated the risk is just not worth it to a lot of people.
India gets £250 million annual development assistance from the UK. Perhaps if the 1st world countries stopped giving aid to such a corrupt government, the population would revolt and insanities like funding their own space program while a large percentage of their population literally starved would end.
You make it sound like the the Indian government has 'forgotten' about its poor people, when the opposite is actually the case. The Indian ruling cast is quite deliberately starving its own people, whom it sees as 'unclean'. All the aid from the UK is doing is helping to support the Indian governments practices instead of actually helping the poor of India.
Look, in these hard times some departments budgets are being slashed and staff are being cut back to the bone. How is a minister these days to expand their empire and get their face in the papers if they don't exploit some children?

I like my DAB radio too. The FM reception in my area means that there's a fair amount of hiss and crackle on my analogue radio, where as the DAB one is crystal clear. The hiss is not too bad when your listening to music, but it used to drive me mad when I was listening to radio 4.
The original design of Concorde was for two of its four engines to be ramjets, which would have given it incredible range and fuel economy. That plan was scrapper in part due to a new Labour government at the time. Make's you want to weep, eh?

Mate, your being conned. Our government is looking at China thinking 'Brilliant. How can we get away with that?' at the same time pointing at China and say 'China bad, m'kay?'. As long as the useful idiots are jumping up and down shouting 'China bad! China bad!' it distracts the rest of the population from discovering that, in reality, were only a few steps behind them.
