Why couldn't they have just used a potato like normal people?
How am I supposed to make GLaDOS jokes when they use wine instead?

Not just frame-rate. Dynamic range is overdue for improvement too. Either of these would do more for realism than more pixels (not that I'd turn down more pixels if it was "as well as", rather .than "instead of").
Of course 4K is (contrary to some other posts) easier to find content for. Plenty of films are shot at a suitable resolution (that version would just need distributed beyond the cinemas). However very few are shot at higher frame rates (I can only think of The Hobbit) and as for higher dynamic range, thats probably limited to still images from high-end cameras.
For years radios had been operated by means of pressing buttons and turning dials; then as the technology became more sophisticated the controls were made touch-sensitive - you merely had to brush the panels with your fingers; now all you had to do was wave your hand in the general direction of the components and hope. It saved a lot of muscular expenditure of course, but meant that you had to sit infuriatingly still if you wanted to keep listening to the same programme.
All very well if you wear a suit jacket all the time. I'm not sure I can remember ever wearing one except at an interview, wedding or funeral (all of which are good occasions to leave the phone in the car). A coat pocket is no good either, I tend not to wear a coat inside or in warm weather/ If a phone doesn't fit in a (front) trouser pocket its insuficiently portable to carry unless you're a woman with a handbag.
Its not exactly unusual to go that long between boarding a plane and it getting into the air and the seatbelt signs being switched off. Or drive that long between motorway service stations.
Possibly more of an issue in the case of a breakdown, but for normal journeys it'd be fine.
Actually even though I hate TIFKAM I have to agree the Win 7 start menu was cramped compared to the XP and earlier versions. I always assumed cramming the start menu into the corner on Win 7 was in preparation for the smaller screen of tablets, but since they introduced TIFKAM for that I have no idea why they got rid of the proper cascading XP style menu.
Not only do monitors not really wear out, they're not particularly getting obsolete either since resolution seems to have been (mostly) stalled for several years (or even gone backwards as 16:9 has gotten more common with 16:10 getting harder to find).
Apply some of the tech improvements which currently seem confined to tablet screens to desktop sized screens (better DPI, not put a computer in there) and they might find they sell rather more once there is a reason to upgrade (if at a sensible price) .
I very much doubt the PPC had a proper mechanical keyboard. Although I never used one I suspect they were basically the same as the cheap keyboards used by the desktop equivalents (after all the whole point of buying an Amstrad PC was they were so much cheaper than most of the competition). At least the PPC had all the right keys and in the right places though.
I also miss such warnings as:
"This stereo record can be played on mono reproducers provided with a
compatible or stereo cartridge wired for mono is fitted. Recent
equipment may already be fitted with a suitable cartridge. If in doubt
consult your dealer."
Of which the best and most memorable example was of course:
"This stereo record cannot be played on old tin boxes no matter what they are fitted with. If you are in possession of such equipment please hand it into the nearest police station."
“This will become, in time, the ax of someone’s grandfather,” said the king, lifting it out. “And no doubt over the years it will need a new handle or a new blade and over the centuries the shape will change in line with fashion, but it will always be, in every detail and respect, the ax I give you today."
