the imac audio stutter fix is long overdue
i've been having problems with intermittent crackly and stuttery audio (i am a music producer) for ages on my 2011 imac. will be bloody pleased to get this fixed.

I recently purchased a Sony Xperia Z and was wondering if I'd regret getting it and not waiting a few more weeks for the S 4. I can now say that looking at the specs and features there's very little difference really and the Xperia Z also has the bonus of being waterproof. Plus it's made out of glass and i think looks a bit nicer. Only trouble is the screen, which whilst very impressive viewed directly-on, looks quite washed-out from shallow angles... it's a shame, but wasn't a deal-breaker for me...was wondering if anyone thought that this issue could be fixed with a software update though? Surely the screen is just the screen - 1080p, 441 ppi etc...it's the software controlling it which would need recalibrating right?
I'm on a pretty hefty contract which just expired. Couldn't really get excited about the iPhone 5 but was kind of resigned to it as I run Macs at home so iPhones have always made sense. When I discovered that even on my contract I would have to pay £150 for anything but the 16GB iPhone I thought screw this and took the plunge with Android. Now rocking a rather lovely Xperia Z and the switch from iOS has been easy-peasy! Virtually painless... I feel refreshed!
I use MIDI on a daily basis to sequence synthesizers from my Apple Mac. Whilst it is a bit suprising there has been no new standard for time/tempo syncing etc for 30 odd years, I guess it's just because MIDI works so effectively - if it ain't broke don't fix it as they say.
Long live MIDI!
In fact they were only really any good in the 60s/70s/early80s - been trading on their old rep for far too long and the bubble had to burst sometime. Old Sony silver hi-fi gear from the 70s/80s is very nice though.
I have always had a soft spot for Panasonic and would be sad to see them go. Hopefully it won't happen.
Funny, my 2006 13" bottom-of-the-line white macbook happily runs OSX Lion and isn't slowed down at all. I also run Logic Pro on it no problem. Sounds like you're just moaning because you ain't got the latest bit of kit, want the latest bit of kit, but cannot afford the latest bit of kit. So you're moaning and threatening to "leave Mac" etc etc. Quite immature really.
as someone else said - the idea of a facebook phone is laughable - as laughable as a myspace phone, or a linkedin phone or a pinterest phone. also, nobody will buy it anyway - facebook has no brand. they obviously believe that they have a valuable brand, nut they are very clearly mistaken, as their rapidly dwindling stock value is proving. social networking is like, so passe anyway. it was a craze for a bit in the late noughties which is now dying off (thank god).
anyway, it's only the masses of idiots who like to listen to (and by extension illegally download) rhianna, gaga and the like that are causing all the problems. if people actually thought about what music they like and actually explored stuff beyond the mainstream, they would find that a lot of independent and non-signed stuff is available perfectly legitimately for free anyway. it's the age-old problem - most people are fucking dumb and like whatever they are told they should like. i'm totally for a mass human depopulation exersize based on music taste.
So yeah, The Bible never even mentions an apple but even if it did - how can something that is IN THE CHRISTIAN BIBLE (ie the idea/story of Original Sin) be insulting to the Christian faith?? They're basically saying that The Bible is insulting - I mean, I happen to agree about that, but I think these people have not thought their argument through.
The Avrocar that people know about and see in footage did not perform well no. However, they made several refinements to the design (as well as producing other models) which improved the performace dramatically. As soon as the thing started working properly, the whole project went "deep black" and nobody knows what developments there have been since. Project Silverbug is an interesting related topic to this. Anyway, I always think that if the USAF were working on stuff this radical in the 1950s, then what the fuck must they have now??
no we're not - a type I society can harness the power of the entire planet in an efficient and non-polluting fashion. imagine being able to harness the power of all the world's oceans, winds and rotational forces - we would have massive amounts of energy at our disposal and the world would be a much much better place than it is now. we are only just starting to even investigate these possibilities - about the most generous level of civilisation i've seen attributed to the human race is type 0.5 but most knowledgable people would argue with that. we're perhaps a type 0.25.
BT Openreach IS A STANDALONE COMPANY and has to bid for the business of BT Global Services or BT Retail (for example) just like anybody else. BT has effectively been "broken up" into seperate entities which are not allowed to favour each other or give special pricing due to anti-competitve laws. So all this talk of breaking up BT really does smack of ignorance and the standard practice of internet person being a know-it-all yet having none of the facts.
