CURSE YOU, 'streaming' music services! I want a bloody CD

Triggerfish

Re: Oh so true...

You're right and lets not forget if I install itunes on windows I'll never complain about any other program being shit and buggy in comparison.

Triggerfish

Re: Oh so true...

Yes but with a CD or DRM free downloads I own my music.

The Irony

The irony is most of these idiots are probably also squealing about infringements from getting spied on by the NSA and then think nothing about doing stuff like this and doxxing people.

Re: Alas...

It must be hard working out populations of species because the distances some creatures travel.

For example they thought there was more bluefin tuna about, then found out the Japanese stock and the American stock they were counting were of the same school they just moved round more than expected.

Great whites etc have been shown to travel literally thousands of miles to mate, and we still don't know where they and a lot of other animals go to once they leave the nearness of our coastlines.

I don't think scientists are making up stock estimates to get grant money though.

There is a lot of evidence of over fishing or habitat loss for marine life, after all.

The Thais sell a lot of stingray skin, the rays are also used for foodstuff (we do as well we call it skate), and also leather (which is really tough I have a shagreen leather wallet that's in its twentieth year and the leather just doesnt wear down), but more recently the pressures of this industry are starting to have a negative impact. The other problem especially with sharks that I have seen in places like Thailand is they often catch little ones for eating along with the big ones (takes about 7 years for a shark to mature enough to mate, you see a little three foot shark on a stand somewhere its like catching and keeping undersized catch), and they don't discriminate on what type it is let alone worry about its CITES standard, (not that CITES means much anyway I could take you to markets where you can pick up all manner of endangered species in a lot of SEA cities).

I'd disagree with that my friend has a couple of Breitlings, a Rolex and one from IWC, he paid for them all by himself.

I don't know if that makes it a status symbol to only those who know about watches, but the IWC is also very simple looking you probably at first glance wouldn't think its a pricey timepiece.

Re: Western morality

Actually Hitler was not elected by popular vote, he lost the election but a lot of politicking and then another dodgy election consolidated his power.

Follow that with some nice propaganda and a populace that was cowed into not saying to much against the Nazis and you really had a dictatorship.

Frankly the situation is screwed because you have to many hawks in power on both sides, there's some over there that seem to hate so much that there is never going to be peace unless they lose power on both sides.

Problem is it would have to be simultaneous, if its not then one sides hawks are going to end up causing the political weakening of the other sides doves who would be seen as weak when facing the other countries aggressive pursuit of their agendas.

They're both feeding off each other.

Hello, police, El Reg here. Are we a bunch of terrorists now?

Yes, but what are your plans if a DRAGON attacks?

Triggerfish

Re: What are your plans to respond to an asteroid impact?

1. Please take up the position of "on all fours".

2. Find a loved one or if they are not available a colleague to do the same.

3. Make them take up the same position but to the side of you and facing in the opposite direction.

4. You can now kiss each others arse goodbye.

Triggerfish

Once whilst temping for the council I had a customer tell me we could save a fortune on fuel by moving all bin depots to the top of hills (we were in Yorkshire) and just letting the bin lorries run down the hills and use the momentum to crest the next hill, and wanted to know why we hadn't thought f implementing this practice.

Nah dragon attack probably isn't the most stupid request.

Dodgy payday loan ads make up 83% of cases probed by UK's FCA

I think one of the best things we could do would be to reintroduce some sort of home economics back into school, teach people some cooking, some budgeting, how credit works etc.

Triggerfish

Re: there is a legitimate use for these...

Furthermore if you're living hand to mouth such that you can't handle a small unexpected outgoing the last thing you need is a payday loan.

That's unfortunately the problem the most vulnerable are getting screwed.

Triggerfish

Re: If you need a payday loan then you shouldn't get one.

I'd say quite a lot do use cash converters actually. To me a quick indicator of how well a towns economy seems to be doing at the moment is to check the amount of pound shops and pawn shops.

Anonymous threatens to name cop who shot dead unarmed Michael Brown

Triggerfish

Re: On the matter of the public's right to know. (They don't!)

FACT: "Signing" as in 'throwing a gang sign means you are in a gang. There are pictures of the kid throwing gang signs all over the media.

No being a gang member means you are in a gang.

Plenty of kids do stuff like through gang signs because its cool or whatever it does not mean they are in a gang.

Triggerfish

Re: "puts his life on the line every day"

Its quite clear you have also convicted the person shot. How about we wait for the trial.

Oh and I quite like being Eurotrash if it means I can walk around a city without fear of some gun toting idiot whatever side of the law they may be on.

Triggerfish

Re: On the matter of the public's right to know. (They don't!)

"It's pretty obvious to me that one look at that picture tells me he's hooked up with gangs. It is a "right of passage" of gangs to kill a cop or some bystander."

The media have been criticised on their choice of pictures causing a negative bias, I didn't think anyone was that daft..... but well done you for proving me wrong.

"Therefore the cop shouldn't even think once before unloading a whole magazine into the scumbag."

I was going to say "Admit it what you really want to say is I should shoot him coz he's black", but then I realised you may not be racist and think anyone white and not dressing correctly should receive such fascist treatment as well. Rather remarkable considering you are complaining about prejudice in the same post

I don't think it should be an extreme of anything, the best diet is one that's balanced. You may not slim down as fast but you have additional health effects from it.

A full English probably was thought of as healthy in those days, know old dockers from Tilsbury they would eat that and have a few pints in the morning just for the calories to get through to lunch time.

Bad back? Show some spine and stop popping paracetamol

Triggerfish

You guys have my sympathies, I have only had back pain from pulling muscles etc but I would say,

while you fight for a good chair, can I also add fight for a good mattress. I've worked for people who have owned bedding factories and got a chance to try out different mattresses. After years of being a student and sleeping on any old bed and then a cheap bed after graduating it was bit of a revelation sleeping on a new mattress that suited me, all the little aches and pains that you stopped noticing just disappeared.

It makes sense you spend a fair bit of time each day in bed and its when your body truly wants to let all the muscles relax.
