Oh dear having trouble expressing yourself clearly are you?
You had a whine about the release cycle being too short for you to "get used to" each version.
You said precisely bugger all about any issues with bugs.
Given nothing actually forces you to upgrade to the new version (despite oooh the version you are on going out of support) it seems the only person who can't see that your problem is to do with the support life cycle is you...
Oh yeah and I must have missed the definition of fanboi extending to encompass anyone who's ever glanced at the release timeline ever.
No they aren't, they are bloody terrible. with this Optimus rubbish they are foisting on every laptop nowadays it means that the nice shiny nVidia graphics card onboard can't actually be used for displaying any graphics. Not only have they publicly said they don't care it doesn't work with Linux and aren't interested in making it work they don't provide an easy way to turn the thing off. So if you don't want the chip sitting their draining your battery you have to employ some awful hacks to get around it.
You're missing the point, this has nothing to do with the general quality of papers coming out of China.
This was a specific incident about a specific paper. Someone made a comment about an individual paper, that was peer reviewed by knowledgeable and hopefully independent scientists in the field, then accepted by the editor of PRL for publication (indeed was one of the Highlight articles in that particular issue). That comment was solely to rubbish the paper based on nothing more than the ethnicity of the authors, no other reason was suggested for why the paper might be no good. So how exactly is that not racism?
I have no issue with someone discussing fake products coming out of China.
However I would not consider someone automatically asserting that a scientific paper is rubbish solely on the basis that the people writing it are Chinese to be a 'discussion of fake products coming out of China'. Especially when said individual clearly hasn't read either the report or the article in question. That would be more in the racial prejudice area wouldn't it.
Apart from the fact that if they do come knocking what you should actually do is refuse to let them in given they have no right to enter your home. If they want to try and get a judge to issue the police with a warrant to search your house (on the grounds that you live in a house therefore you must watch TV...) let them try.
"European "credit cards" are a joke in my experience - they want a transaction fee FROM ME (in addition to what they charge the merchant), and most take money out of an existing account (that is a DEBIT, not CREDIT card)."
No they don't. What you may have encountered is the fact that in some (all?) European countries the merchant can pass the handling charge on to you.
"In addition, they force you to use a PIN they generate - no way to select your own pin."
No they don't.
"Total monthly charges includes account maintenance and other fees which I have never seen here, in the US."
This is not universal, indeed if you are happy to have a high APR lots are free. Like the four (from three countries) I have in my wallet for example...
"I also found that my US credit cards could not be used in a quite a few small shops in France - they were looking for a card with a chip, and simply did not know what to do with a card without a chip. Bigger shops could handle it, no issues, but not the smaller ones, with less tourist traffic."
Or they might just have been pissed off you were wanting to pay for a coffee with a credit card with the associated fees that brings on them.
