Sowing the seed ..

What is the purpose of this PSA? There is money to made by being the first University to openly demonstrate and warn the public of the potential security risk to these PDAs. As more businesses shift their attention to these PDAs to conduct commerce, they will soon realize they will need a better security frame-work. These corporate titans will march to their respective government officials to fund a research/project to better secure these systems. Governments usually go to their universities for research related activities ..

Well, guess which university is going to be on the top of that list ?

Google ices Android launches in China

It's all about positioning ..

My guess is that Google doesn't really have a big market share in China and probably lag significantly behind the local search engine (behind Yahoo!). By taking stand on Human Right issue they have nothing to loose and instead they get instant credibility with the West. Now they have created an image that says "Google is less greedy and socially responsible .. " trust me they will milk this image all the way to the bank.

Is this real ? ..

I'm curious if The Register team has taken time to validate this claim. I reviewed the details of this vulnerability on their website and out of curiosity I compiled and ran some of the example codes posted on their site and I can't seem to reproduce it.

Is it possible that Apple has patched the problem but never bothered to follow up with these folks to close the loop?

Monty launches frantic 'save MySQL' web campaign

For Widenius, as the co-founder of MySQL and the primary driver for this campaign, is more about protecting his own wallet less about looking for the best interest of MySQL community .. for two reasons:

1. He and his cohorts agreed to sell MySQL to Sun and made a boat load of money. {$800Mill} which is 10 times more that it's worth.

2. Then he decided to invest his new found wealth on a new company. This new company sole focus is building a new DB engine for mySQL that means, if Oracle decides to jettison mySQL or put forth less friendly licensing agreement then he stands to lose everything ..

This makes me question his motives ..
