They emit a lot of soot/smoke particles, there is one at the end of the road that stinks.

It can also settle in the lungs if there is enough of it.

Perl was really the first attempt at a scripting language (I exclude Bash etc. here) and it was not orthogonal e.g. there are different structures for IF statements which could have been regular without too much effort.

It's just that no one had an example to learn from.
