Same with me, and I am OK with the "Hail Britannia" too, but for the sake of "facts", there are perhaps a few things one could add. The majority of people who emigrated to America came from the rest of Europe and that does not include the first wave from Spain and Portugal.

And when you Americans think about the "The Declaration of Independence" you love, and seldom read, note, no Kings, Queens or Lords. The Declaration has its background in the very French/German "Age of Enlightenment" (an intellectual movement which dominated the world of ideas in Europe in the 18th century).

And in "The Law of Nations (French: Le droit des gens) a work of political philosophy by Emerich de Vattel".

The Scot, Adam Smith joined in as a key figure in the Scottish Enlightenment and in "Book V of The Wealth of Nations", Smith comments on the low quality of instruction and the meager intellectual activity at English universities.

I would add "Hail Europe" to your comment.

And if you like to feel England as your mother country then think about it like the son who travelled Europe, decided to lave England for the Americas and told his father to keep his old system as he wanted non of it.

And when you are at it, what have you done to the "separation of church and state" you will find non of that aim in the Inauguration of Trump.

You understand a lot more when you realize that the Brits read English history as the World history, it also partly explains the Brexit vote.

This is not a either or case, the verbal will remain of course. Some accidents have been caused by misunderstandings by the way, and the problem reading instruments when the thing is shaking badly will remain.

The point is that Europe did not want to fall behind in technology, that only the USA had full command of the GPS and that higher precision was needed and possible. In short, common sense and competition. We produce cars in Europe regardless of the fact that they are produced in the USA too. Even a nice and smart American like Neil deGrasse Tyson was unable to hide that he was pissed off by this competition from Europe, the same regarding CERN.

Well, why do I have this feeling you make it sound a bit "negative" and still it would not surprise me that much if you and so many of us have this feeling that the Muslims entering Europe should try perhaps a bit harder to integrate with "our" society. Interesting question and perhaps you have a point, but I think you are walking on thin ice without understanding it at all.

But perhaps you are still an educated Brit who doesn't think all the 50 American states were British colonies or that the majority of people who went to the Americas were Brits but people from the rest of the world and that very few stopped over in England to learn English.

What then happened to the Brits. You find Italian, Spanish and French parts in many American towns, not to mention Chinese and what not. But a British part of some town doesn't come to my mind. What happened to you and what about Australia and Canada, all British with old British culture. Hmm, is there some wistful thinking involved here. Perhaps you don't quite get it.

You are mixed up with the far left and the left. The "left" we have in Europe is "very much in favour of free enterprise and individual liberty". I think you know that too very well. We have a right arm and a left arm because we have two arms. If we had three then perhaps we would have a middle arm too. People who live in a "two party" system are more mixed up and fooled by this left and right and have problems looking straight and use common sense.

Remember when Microsoft called Linux "communist", they knew some Americans would go for it, in Europe shit like that was ridiculed.

As a scout (sea) from long ago, I will try to help you out. Take poor Cameron, when he went to Brussels to beg for special advantages (he would never allowed anybody else) he had the psychological disadvantage of knowing he represented the second richest kid on the block.

But now when Mrs May goes to Brussels next year she will find it slightly less embarrassing as she can point to France as being the second richest kid on the block.

There are an amazing amount of things, good and not so good, I have learned as a scout (on land). When I started my carrier as a helper, helping old women across the street, I eventually, as a teen, got a bit fed up, as we do. But then getting older my heart expanded and I stated to help ever younger women across the street, any street. To my great surprise I also found out that it takes women a surprising amount of years for them to learn how to say "Thank You" properly.

But in case you have not realized it, each time some company is playing the game, all of you will write "it's the law that is at fault", and should be mended, until somebody, like the big bad wolf, suggest something could be done about it.

In this case it's fairly obvious that the Irish government has to oppose the ruling first, even if they want the money, or not, later. Apart from that it was about an illegal state aid, again because the EU does not interfere in the tax policy in its member states, perhaps they should, perhaps it will be more possible without the UK.

Most people are fairly fed up with all the gaming of the system. Perhaps both the UK and the US governments should have got it, a bit earlier. I am totally confident that there is more intelligence within the EU, although the problems are large.

Up-voted for standards. I remember some nice and cheep pillows my young wife bought. But next morning my face was deep blue as all that colour came off. Add to that toys with lead paint. Should I point out that Britain was one of the last countries in Europe to skip arsenic in paint. How damned surprised should one be if there are regulations when, on one side you have manufacturers who cheat as much as they can, and on the other side you have consumers without any ability to know what they buy or eat or take or use and so on.

What a bloody mess you Brits have made for your self for so dubious reasons.

But I agree people vote according to the information/dis-information they have and believe in, and with their "feelings". There is no need for name calling on either side. The only positive I can come up with is that it seems to me that you have started to have the discussion now you should have had before the referendum.

The reality has woke you up. And yes I suppose I refer more to the leavers but to all of you regarding the name calling.
