@KjetilS Lets have the the reasoning behind "extremely difficult to steer clear of ..." statement. Not some Google shill site parroting bollocks but real actual wording of the act as of today. Google are pissed cos they have already been caught flogging counterfeit drugs, and this may make it harder for them to do the same again. So information from none theives, and none profiteers from counterfeiters would be cool.

The image is PD you can go down to your library, find them in a book and scan them, no problems. Thieving some else's work is not on, but I don't suppose you'd understand that.

Find any one to complain to. Some one uploads a photo to street view, get that taken down. Some one takes photos of your kids and posts them to Orkut, get that taken down. Google facilitates copyright violation, profits from copyright violation, gives lips service to concerns about copyright violation:

This is NOT a major anything, there are categories on that article that describe the person as unimportant, of low interest, and yet here is an article of about 5000 words on the subject, far more than WP has on many other more important subjects. What of these RS? They are no more than talking heads talking crap, there is no analysis of the issue by those RS they are simply saying "Oh santorum there is a funny thing that happened to him". Any half decent, responsible organisation would simply devote no more than 100 words or so to the issue, Partridge managed to do it 75 words. Articles like this demonstrate that WP is nothing more than a festering puss ridden sore on the internet.
We are a C++ shop and we limit the use of C++ language features. We have some 20+ years of developing in C++ and our standards are built from field experience in our application area, and constant profiling of new algorithms. If I were to outline some of the restrictions we put on using language features they'd be a swarm over this post giving it the thumbs down. Yet in our application area, creating tooling for the manufacture of 3D objects, we are the fastest and most accurate in the world.
Presumably this is the same law that the State Supreme Courts have said did not the protect names of anon IP addresses posting to wikipedia to be revealed. The US 1st amendment does not hold for speech that is actionable as libellous.

In the last couple of weeks our ADSL connection has been pants. OK we're out in a small country village and do get on average 4-5 Mb/s, but in the last couple of weeks the connection has been dropping out every 10-15 minutes. Then you'll get an 8 hour stint of OK then its up and down like a $5 whore.
Someone links one of your images onto google maps/street view in order to promote their business and its is impossible to get it removed. You end up having to break the URL which may be being used on numerous non-commercial sites. There is no way of contacting any Google cunt, and they don't respond to takedown requests.
I have two FB accounts neither of which use my real name because I never use my real name online. So groups of people know me as either X or Y.
The grandkids don't use their real names on FB either. One of the stepkids worked in forensic mental health the last thing he wants is for his (ex)patients to know about his family or extended family.
One should not be able to put Davy Jones into PIPL and come up with real life facebook accounts.

... but it aint google, etc that are actually providing that content is it. Its others that provide the content that Google etc allow their users to store on their servers. In fact much of it is stolen, and Google etc simply scrape the ad revenue. In point of fact Google freetail both ways 1) in the content, and 2) in the delivery.
@StuartMcL If someone takes or uses something of yours that they have no right to most people will call that theft. It might not meet the legal definition of theft, but most people unlike freetarding fuckwits, don't carry about copies of Smith's Law of Theft, or Archibold on Criminal Evidence. Actually I doubt that freetarding fuckwits carry those about either, mostly they spout crap from other freetards on slashdot.
