After we ran our article about the fate of .sk, the nation of Slovakia flew into a rage. And now, here's part two...

Re: Comment from NasaDomena.sk

personally I support this stance... whats so wrong with wanting to reclaim a TLD representing a nation by the people and business's of that nation

contracts you can argue about... but the actual logic of the people and businesses who deal with dot sk is correct in my view. This coming from an australian go figure...

Australia's .au internet registry chair quits amid no-confidence vote

frankly the fact that Australia needs a E.164 (ENUM) mapping yet the vested interests and squabbling prevent it from happening

with all the major telco's moving to IP based routing and communication not having a open and level playing field is hurting +61 and dot Au registry

The gov not controlling the dot AU DNS root signing process means that they cant do interception correctly and rely on commercial organisations who may have other vested interests...

build a fair and open registry with stiff registration requirements...

the laws of australia only apply to those companies in australia... what we should be asking is how they intend to PREVENT messages such as im.qq.com from being secured

also wouldn't it be great to get all the messages from the australian prime minsters Wickr and whatsapp ?

good old george has admitted it can be done...

Re: There is a dark evil danger to the big uptake of HTTPS

EXACTLY - trusting any Certificate Authority means you have to trust all of them (that are installed)

a much better way would be provide an option to use DANE which works by DNS so the domain owner provides the key in a dynamic method (effectively a self signed or CA key depending on the owners pref )

https://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc6698

yes you have to trust the root for that domain e.g. .com but the trust path is very obvious

it is also a nice way to distribute PGP or SSH public keys...

CDA - standards remember them...

WHY oh WHY can we not use CDA files and send them to the owner of the information ?

I wish doctors would send the results to the actually those that it effects, if you want a PR success simply enable this and so many people would be happy hell its functionality even baked into iPhones !

FAIL

Australia STILL does not have DNSSEC !

what do you expect...

Australia i.e. .au still has not signed its root zone...

wake up !

Finally, it’s the year of Linux on the desktop IPv6!

MOBILE

actually the real adopters are going to be the companies that run large public networks

this is going to happen in LTE... with many networks demanding that all LTE devices be IPv6 since it has such good support for roaming and broadcast which when your network is piping broadcast video is a big deal... so really I want LTE modems to push out IPv6 !

how about signing the AU root so DNS security can be applied ?

Thumb Down

useless

just goes to show how completely useless YELP is outside of the USA... partnering with yellow pages...

Australia does need something but since YELP sucks in europe in my experience I dont hold out much hope...

Go

better be Btrfs

if they are going to break out and try a new file system they have to go with soemthing that is going to work out and have support...

they would be best placed to go with Btrfs since thats going to be the standard in linux soon enough !
