Apple slapped with patent lawsuit over iOS 6 Passbook app

JaitcH
WTF?

Ameranth is Plain Wrong; Apple has ...

every right to copy everyone else's original work. It is their rason d'etre and started with the corporate name and logo. A corporate policy.

They also copied the material used in their travel menu patent but none of the Res systems, or airlines, from whom it was copies, objected.

Only Apple is allowed to sue for triple damages ... it says so.

The US military has allegedly classified Julian Assange as an "enemy" and the World ...

Given their accuracy with drones, Assange should be safe, but I wouldn't want to be in his vicinity given the Americans penchant for killing innocent people.

Still, Bin Laden still holds the record for the largest US expenditure to kill one man! Remember Tora Bora?

Politicians protecting crooked politicians and Fascist's sons

Politicians and a guy called Max seem to be the thinnest skinned types around, so obviously this clap-trap is to corneal the evil doings of elected officials and sons of Fascists who like their females in fives.

There should be a provision that excludes any public official, or any person, paid from the public purse from being protected by this legislation.

It should not be used to conceal things that have occurred, as was the case involving the five females with a male dressed in a Nazi uniform. If someone in the public arena wishes to perform certain unusual tricks they should be expected to face any exposure.

Of course, like all attempts at censorship, the UK courts jurisdiction runs out after a few miles at sea and then anything goes. Naturally the House of Commons would remain a potential source of hot gossip.

New Zealand Prime Minister apologizes for Dotcom spying

Not too many as politically brave and honest as NZ's John Key

It would be nigh on impossible to imagine either Cameron or Obama apologising ... for anything.

Obviously the NZ police got carried away when some rock-head FBI type dreamt up this major screw up of several levels of law enforcement.

If this had happened in the USA the FBI would have no doubt had some paid snitch lying about Dotcom having done some reprehensible 'crime'. just as they framed the former US/ UN weapons inspector Scott Ritter. Obama, or at least V-P Biden, bought by Hollywood.

At least people can accept that the NZ government has scruples and stands as a beacon of hope.

I guess Portugal's movie industry can't be that big

In most countries where movie making and records are big business, the industry groups have bought off the politicians (lobbying is a 'nice' word for bribery) and the politicians have dutifully 'honoured' their commitments.

Nice to know some countries haven't sunk as low as America, Britain or Canada.

Virgin did this for public consumption

In my many years in communications I have been involved in telecoms switch-overs from Central Office (telephone 'exchanges'), to civilian toll networks and the military Autovon system and never was one done during so potential users could 'see' it.

Obviously Virgin did it for the publicity, which was both effective and cheap.

UN agency didn't break North Korea tech embargo

JaitcH

Once again, the US Vivid Imagination Working Overtime

The USA is always using international bodies to enforce it's policies, even if it is a failing policy.

They did it to VietNam as a result of their loss of face in losing the American War in VietNam. And the result? A country that is so self-sufficient, so resourceful, it can often do things more effectively using low-tech than high-tech. (Ever seen a ships propeller shaft turned in a manual lathe?)

Once again, the US is trying the finger in the dyke trick with North Korea. There are many countries who actually support North Korea (being an 'enemy' of the US is enough to achieve that). China is the world's manufacturing facility and China is a very big supporter of North Korea.

Even if ships don't want to be tracked entering N Korean waters, they drop ship in China and the goods go by rail.

Same with the US no-nukes (except for our friends) policy. Pakistan and India have them (and no inspections), Israeli got the materials from the USA (no inspections) and N Korea has enough to occupy it's neighbours.

I worked for a small company one of whose products included very high voltage, very high current switches that were designed as nuclear weapons triggers. Cute blue colour with lots of glass. They came in to the plant in high security vans, they were stared in the general stores, and they were carefully tracked.

But the company sure bought a lot more than it used; the surplus were shipped off to some mysterious destinations and to account for the missing units, sworn statements together with photographs were used to satisfy the US authorities. How many more operations are going on like that?

This policy is merely a small impediment that simply creates a market for those shady types who operate world wide, wheeling and dealing.

Computers are one of the easiest products to 'smuggle' since so many units are awash in today's world. It is likely there are far better computers in N Korea than this UN financed unit.

Apple demands $707m more from Samsung

Apple is running out of ...

revisions or 'upgrades'. and they won't be able to sustain their drip-drip annual upgrades and money-raking operations.

They have to fight the competition as Android & WinMob cell handsets will offer so much more variety, tailored more closely to peoples needs.

The Far East, for example. needs waterproof units and only Android has them (if you don't believe visit Singapore or the Indochina region in the rainy season) and dragging a Zip-lock bagged iFone out to use is so degrading.

Some people love to spend all their waking hours on social networks, and they have their socially enhanced handsets, others need more business oriented units.

What needs revamping is the US patent system so all these artificial blocks to progress are eliminated. They are considering rolling back auto patent lives so maybe this will spread to other areas of technology.

Their healthy legal attitude is to be recognised.

So many governments break the law in achieving their goals that law-breaking becomes the norm. Nearing the value of toilet paper now that all those sworn to uphold the words are busy passing laws that shred it still further.

COOK is a new word for Compromise

Jobs might have treated his employees like a maniacal fanatic but rarely would he compromise on quality.

The Don't squeeze phone obviously embarrassed him and a few heads were pushed.

This COOK guy has screwed up serially: first with Siri and now with this joke called maps. It's not as if Apple hasn't been purloining user location data. The satellite maps are crappy old black and white, low resolution junk. Russia sat ops are selling better quality sat pictures.

This fiasco shows just how good Google maps are.
