LASER STRIKES against US planes on the rise

Re: Several things about these stories bug me...

Go to an airport and watch the flights come in and see how slow they 'appear' to be going. At distance the brain works out all of the angles automatically, (think spears/arrows and moving targets to know we are designed to do this sort of thing), and it suddenly becomes easy. Plus, they are not painting it for strike even waving it vaguely across the cockpit window achieves the same result.

The problem with many of the responses here is to take the article, on a techie site, and assume it's for techies.

A parent who has a PC downstairs connected to an ADSL router with WiFi and one or two laptops upstairs, plus PS3/Xbox and probably another WiFi router configured as a bridge is sure as hell a SysAdmin in my book regardless of the paid job. And often it's not about keeping them away from porn or violence but making sure they don't burn out on Facebook or YouTube and do their chores etc and not to mention bandwidth capping.

OpenDNS and filtering by time and content on the router is the easiest way to go. There are better ways but the more you add on the more complicated it gets.

********* Expletives removed!

Keep the brew bubbling with a little stir just to get the noxious odour of rotten apples in the air. Meh!

I loved my iPhone 3g but then fell behind with the payments. Not to my phone provider but to Apple. You see I didn’t upgrade to a 3gs, or a 4 and so each little update that comes out each month makes me and my phone just a bit more obsolete (and slow!) Every application takes an age to open and when I went into the Covent Garden Apple store their first question was “is it updated?” When I said yes, that was the problem he just looked at me with pity whilst pushing an iPad towards me. Bastard.

No, contract is up in December and I’m going Galaxy S2 and Apple can rot.

PS - What a twat. How many things can he advertise hoping to get more free things? Pah!

Meh!

If Apple treated their customers with respect and didn't aggressively label their products as legacy whilst still actively selling them then I for one would stay with them. However, I'll go to an OS that at least gives me a choice of what I want.

I read the 1st bit and thought "bollocks" but I was bored and so read on. This means I quite enjoyed the article and what's behind it. I've posted this and put my moniker on it because I don't mind being associated with what I say. The internet has made many of us cynics but really we are just apes in a troop wanting to be liked, appreciated and accepted.

So I totaly disagree with AC and now I want some blonde to de-louse me :o)

Nigerian man gets 12 years for $1.3m 419 scam

Stubar
Flame

What's Nigerian for "greedy, blinkered, head in the sand idiots"?

Because making them wake up is the only way to stop this.

We live, on the whole and certainly in the US, in a capitalist community. The basic ethos is "I have something, do you want it?" If the answer is "yes" then the trader (419'er) sells and then gets more of that stuff and sells it again, and again, and again. If the answer is "No" then the trader (419'er) finds something else or moves into a different market.

Only when people stop handing over money will this stop.

What's the point of it all??

I can't really see the point of their claims. As was inferred by AC, yes you can get a whopping load of stuff (WLoS) (Note the uppercase in acronym but lower case when spelt out), but as soon as you use it for large files you get capped.

It is a better service than ADSL but on average both offer the same speeds, ie uncapped ADSL v Capped VM.

I will stay with my £5* unlimited (cough!!) ADSL 4.5 Mbps Down 0.5 Up which my ISP lets me do what the hell I like with.
