Is your Windows 10, 8 PC falling off the 'net? Microsoft doesn't care

Re: Don't think Microsoft has the monopoly on dodgy DHCP clients

Why would a client ask a server to use the IP address under DHCP? It would just ask to renew.

Re: @ShelLuser

Not to mention all the emails you keep getting from e.g. VirginMedia security services when they pick up your DNS traffic at their gateway telling you that "you appear to be using a non-VirginMedia DNS. This can be a security risk..."

Re: Where's Max Quordlepleen when you need him?

Or you might fancy a nibble of my rump. It's very good. I've been exercising it and eating plenty of grain, so there's a lot of good meat there.

TRT Silver badge

So basically...

novae and supernovae are the sputterings of a star collapsing due to a lack of thermo-nuclear pressure from the core balancing the force of gravity created by that core. i.e. a nearly spent atomic bomb blows up.

This event was what happens when the gravity that holds a star together is overcome by an external gravitational force and the core, no longer contained by a shell of matter falling inwards, with all that thermo-nuclear pressure bursts out,. i.e. a fully fuelled atomic bomb goes off.

Wow. Incredible.

In the context of reminding the jury that the evidence presented to them and the lack of probity in cross examination is a result of the law? There's an expectation to be expeditious in court, imposed by the home office as it happens.

Re: Its not just the creationists

Why would a God whose main weapon is smiting, you know, lightning bolts and fireballs, design a fireproof being to smite against?

TRT Silver badge

WWJD?

I do have a bit of a problem with the old intelligent design argument. I mean, wouldn't it be much more fun to make a mechanism that randomly chucks out stuff that is then tried against a wide range of scenarios, and the best survivor gets to mutate again and the progeny tested? I mean, that kind of throws the design element out of the window. It's like putting AI bots into a maze - the one that gets to the end zone first gets two new bots with nearly identical programming / build released from the start of the maze.

Way more fun than trying to design the best thing from the word go. Especially if you're wondering, will these maze bots ever reach a state where they begin to ask questions about who or what created and programmed them?

I also have the ability to destroy the world at a single command, can calculate every conceivable outcome of any strategic position and have the initiative and intelligence to search databases of pension records and phone records in order to track down my creator, yet I am unable to learn the futility of war through the certitude of an enforced stalemate or equality of losses without first being prompted to do so.

Re: Tallow is for Steric Acids, as a lubricant.

Industrial tallow can come from animal or vegetable sources. It can be a by-product of biodiesel production from corn oil, FFS. To the industry, it's just another name for triglycerides. They're used to adjust the melting points of substances as well as their viscous properties at different temperatures.

The tweet from BoE dude just says "tallow". He/she is an idiot! They didn't check with their supplier the absolute source of all the materials used in their product?!

Mind you, I wouldn't be surprised it came from a beef source, I'm just annoyed by (1) the person who tweeted not understanding the hidden part of the question and seemingly without referring it to a manager, and (2) the over-reaction of people as the original spark gets Chinese-whispered away from what was actually said.
