Develop on Unix

People have been developing on Unix for five decades - people have tried to develop on Windows, but that is chasing a moving target. According to El Reg you need some kind of framework if you want to develop in C#, but you can create web applications on Unix and Linux in C and other languages without frameworks.

Apperently it's not some Unix flavour, as those have good multi-tasking and multi-user support. A rehash of Jobs's MultiFinder, perhaps?

Refactoring whizz: Good software shouldn't cost the earth – it's actually cheaper to build

Daniel von Asmuth

You must always go fast...

That is better. Real world programmers have deadlines to meet, but good quality software takes time, so they build a quick demo. Then they can make a good design and implement it properly, eliminating the need for expensive fixes after release.

Re: Interesting

Could we ask HPE to Open Source their AXP architecture?

An Instruction Set Arrchitecture is repaltively simple. It is de tailed design of processors like R10000 that is muh more omplex, so the argument that it has been proven in practice makes sense. So you're allowed to make your own 'implementattion' of their ISA. But then, their hardware design is protected by numerous patents....
