I've decided that If my kids prove to be as half as adept as their dad at bypassing such filters then it will be pointless exercise.
I speak to them about the Internet and if they see anything they don't like / understand etc then to come to me. And they have both done that when those pesky pop-out ad's have gone up on screen.

I'm going to have to stop reading the El Reg comments.
There are just far too many sensible suggestions coming out - I don't think I can take it anymore. I simply didn't expect this from what is, essentially, a geek site.
I want more comments about how Apple are saying they have a patent on Fracking as they've been doing it to their customers for years.
I want comments about how people would love to Frack Paris.
I want comments about how how Lewis will spin this into his Climate change articles and say it will lower temperatures

In this instance I'd say it does.
I think it is reasonable to assume that this isn't a 1, 2 or 6 month month hire but for a reasonable length of time (2+ yr).
If it finishes before then I also think it would be safe to say that one party is not happy with the other (Hmm - wonder which way that would be). There will be the inevitable spin that paints it as all rosy in the walled garden...

People don't want a tablet, they *THINK* they need an iPad.
This is now a small(ish) snowball where people talk about the tablets they have and when more and more realise that they can have the functionality of an iPad for half the price (sometimes more than 1/2) that snowball will get bigger and bigger and very rapidly.
My guess is that Apple will have less than 30% tablet share by June 2014

I love a good conspiracy theory and they do say this! Apparently they need some "outside" DNA to enable them to keep the shape shifting working - it's why Diana was brought in and why Kate was. Brilliant stuff...

Worked at a large pharma company back in 99 and they were just putting in ATM lines. one was supposed to be a 100mb VBR (short distance between 2 sites) - cost was supposed to be around £15k I think
The BT account mgr rang up saying they'd made a mistake on the contract and although the price was showing as £15k they'd also put down a CBR service (cost £100k). Was roughly told "that's a shame, for you"

With the recent comments on Android / iPhone share I've been nosying around when in pubs / airports etc.
The thing that has struck me is that the iPhone is used by more females than males (it's not a scientific study!!). And the Android phones were more the high end (SGS II/III, HTC thingy etc) with a smaller smattering of mid-level.
Wonder if the reg would carry out a survey to see if this male = android , female = iphone holds true anywhere else

The SEP owners merely want paying for the use of their FRAND patents - some companies (<cough> Apple) seem to think they don't need or shouldn't have to pay anything or they should be allowed the right to determine what they pay (usually significantly less than existing FRAND payees).
some chocolate fireguards are better than others and DNS blocking is just too easy to get around - Any kid will have this sorted within hours of it being implemented (even the none teccy ones can have a quick cheat sheet written for them).
Slowing down your internet traffic to "protect the kidz" is worth it - that's how the govt would explain it.
