It's just a stupid name and will suffer the same fate as Linux on the desktop for the same reason - noone wants to learn the stupid names of the applications.

Looks like the content taught in these Alpha courses I see being taught around the country is going to have to change to fit these new scientific findings.

So there's no way to ensure this works over SSL presumably. Simply intercept the mail, or get into their mail box using stolen passwords from any number of the recent hacks (Sony PSN etc) and you can then login to any account someone has.

I wish they'd implement a feature where you can set the fingerprint of the browser to the the same as everyone else thus stopping the way people are really tracked.

Cookies aren't the real problem

Good on MS for doing this. Personally I've set FF to delete all cookies on exit and use other plugins etc. But anyway, the issue is not cookies. They're fairly easy to deal with by just deleting them, manually if you have to, or automatically, whatever.

Even if you have no cookies or any other identifying file on your PC (flash files etc) you can still be tracked using the information your browser sends to the sever alone: User Agent, plugin details, installed fonts, time zone, screen resolution and colour depth etc all combine to provide a fingerprint that is unique enough to identify you, especially when combined with an IP.

Even if you disable java script you can still be tracked with a fairly high degree of accuracy.

And even if you manage to disable all of that data being sent by customizing your browser and changing non standard settings or compiling your own, well you can still be tracked because 99.999% of other users don't have blank data for these things - you're unique in sending no information.

I can't believe it's taken so long to get hardware graphics acceleration into browsers. There are plenty of sites that will take advantage of this and I think it will make a big difference. That 1GB DX11 card is making sense now. Personally I don't care if you're using Linux or some other platform that doesn't support hardware acceleration. Frankly if your platform doesn't support that then it's a rubbish platform.
