I also wear a helmet, and doing that saved my life (I broke it with my head and got unconscious plus broken bones).
That said, riding in the city or on a road the helmet is almost useless, as the real danger are car, trucks and white vans (in particular, construction workers vans.. they seem to hate cyclists for some reason). The helmet does nothing here.
Changing API/compatibility is huge if you integrate the damn thing... that is the main reason we decided to not sign with M$/SalesForce/Zoho.
The cost is not very high, but when you realize how they deprecate functionality, APIs... every two versions of salesforce your API may be broken... hey, they told you one version ago!!
So this means that you would need to check every release to see if your specific API calls have been deprecated.

Also, workflows in all these cloud SAAS change. How do you control that this key feature that made you sign up doesnt get away, you might wonder. Well, the answer is you cant, unless you are huge. And if you are huge, the questions should rather be why are you using the damn thing... it would be cheaper to use your own. Note: you might remember this CEO who decided to migrate to salesforce and then fire all his developers.. may he burn in hell...
We basically pay in dollars, plus some kind of "pound tax" ;) So prices keep up with the value of the pound.
I am happy that we got a good pot of money/credit on our provider just before the pound crashed, so our "server" money wont go down for quite a while... and as we are using Linux servers (not the API) we can migrate to another provider or go onsite if needed.
It should be the year of the browser. A Pig to program.. but then you can use whatever browser if you did your job well.
Corporate computers should run a hosted machine unless mobile (virtual desktops, etc).. and ppl should be careful about running things on the cloud.. it is really expensive.
We run most of our services on the cloud, for the very simple reason that we are a small company and dont want to have to be "on the ready" 24/7.
Most stuff "german made", except automotive, is made in china, etc, and some screws put in germany, so "german made". You buy chinese stuff with a german badge. And it is the few screws put in germany that fail.
I say this while 3m away from our robotics bay.. all german, swiss, etc made. Yet almost all is made in china and a few final touches are put in those countries.. and those final touches are mostly wrongly done.
These guys were just rebranding, and changing a few parts so it could be said "made in Spain".

How different is it from a 30.000£ robot we have that can be bought for a third of the price from china.. just 99% finished? also, should I had finished the job, I would have done it properly, you know, torque wrench, etc.. I think that for a 20k£ margin that is the least you can expect, not the some loose some crosstreaded some too tight screws, all without thread locker we got.

I have 20 years of experience and two degrees (Computer engineering and Economics and Business Administration).
Training someone like me is VERY expensive.. so the companies and government of UK, US, etc, prefer to run on "free money" expended by someone else.
That is the reason I am in the UK.. no cost for them, hire and produce money.
I could jump ship and go to another country with higher wages.. problem is I like the UK, and wanted to take root here. All this bigotry and xenophobia might force me to decide to rent my house and move to the us (my wife is a US citizen), earn more than double, etc. No need to stay in Germany in the 30s.
As for the referendum not being well framed.. I disagree. It was framed on purpose as an all or nothing question, to solve a problem the Tories had, not for the nation. It backfired.
The trick is making the pool smaller without the companies moving.
With hard brexit I just see how the companies are moving elsewhere.. hard luck.
So maybe I will have to move country again.. it seems that every time I buy a house somewhere, that place goes south.. maybe my fault...
Well, it does affect ME. And I could no vote (bloody foreigner that mantains NEDs, politicians and private monopolies).
I cannot describe properly how pissed I am at the situation, BREXIT has cost me more than 30.000£ to date, and counting. On top of that, I have to endure xenphobia. At least I am white, blonde and green eyed..
Citrix: the problem I have with that kind of solution is PRICE.
It is extremely expensive to do so.. and mainly for licensing. They killed the golden egg laying hen before it grew.
Now, they have themselves got into this increasingly niche market, and all because of complex and expensive licensing that severely limited with CALs, etc what you could do with the servers.
Had they been reasonable, most apps would be done these days with .net and executed on thin clients, all over the internet. It is only licensing that prevented this.. and now everyone is expecting most "apps" to be websites...
I would prefer to pay and not be tracked, but I don-t have the choice.
WP: tracked, don't pay and the apps are bad. Eternal work in progress.
iOS: walled garden, overpriced,almost no choice.
Android: spyware, unstable featureset for developers: O.S updates lag.
And remember, mobile is the future of computing. A very BLEAK future.
Go to IntelliJ if you want even more power and ease.

I would be perfectly happy to keep using a decent and supported version of many of these, but then I would be unployable.
The FACT that Oracle has all but abandoned Java is sad.

That was the officual explanation. One that failed because pollution failed to diminish on summer, when boilers are mostly not used.
The problem is the buses. They produc several times the amount of nox that they claim to producr, and it shows on streets that are bus only...they are extreme pollution points... Up to a point impossible if the Euro levels were of any use.
The politicians have known this for long, that is why they blocked petitions for on the road tests. Euro pollution leves are little more than industry protections.

Only if we could have that in the UK, just imagine how good it would be to have the rails as one company and the trains companies as independent companies, that bid for the different services.

Ad networks SHOULD be great.
The problem is they are way to greedy, both the advertisers and the networks.
Only properly identified individuals should be able to send anything else than a static image, and the networks should be legally responsible (in practice, not just theory) for sending malware.
