No, the Linux leap second bug WON'T crash the web

Won't somebody please think of the Kerbals?!

Should I avoid playing Kerbal Space Program on the day in question or are Kerbals expendible enough to take the chance?

Re: Freetardonomics

"Spotify (which only exists because the alternative is zero revenue amid piracy) pays 0.007 USD per stream. So if you had a million plays that'd be 70 USD."

0.007 USD x 1,000,000 = 7,000 USD not 70 USD.

Brit kids match 45-year-old fogies' tech skill level by the age of 6

DON'T PANIC

It's aimed at consumers so it's really just a test of how much people use and feel comfortable with new technology so there's no need for middle aged programmers to be waving Java manuals in their kids faces or telling little Johnny that he's useless because he can't compile a Linux kernel.

Why?

Seems a bit petty to me to be honest.

Brit IT workers are so stressed that 'TWO-THIRDS' want to quit

WTF?

Public v Private Nonsense

I've worked pretty extensively in the private and public sectors and, let's be honest, there are people who haven't a clue what they're doing in either and there are good hard working people in both.

But the solution is simple: if you're a public sector worker who thinks the private sectors pays more and you want more money then find a job in the private sector; if you're a private sector worker who envies the supposedly cushy number public sector workers have then find a job in the public sector. Just stop moaning about the job other people have.

@thejinxed - Google Doesn't Own Baidu

Where did you get the information that Google was the largest shareholder in Baidu?

Google held a 2.6% stake in Baidu that it offloaded in 2006.

Battery

Glad you mentioned the battery life because I really like the original Storm but swapped it for a Curve as it was almost always on recharge. Nothing here to entice me to try the Storm 2 then it seems.

Unhappy

so long and thanks for all the fish

As a Sonic Youth loving NME reader during the 80s I'm sad to here of Swells' passing as he used to simultaneously give me a laugh and leave me infuriated on a pretty regular basis.

I can hardly see why he doesn't deserve his entry in Wikipedia given some of the inane and only very very minimally important information it deems worthy of chronicling.

RIP.
