Just adding Razor Wire
to the top of their ARM Walled Garden.
Move along there, nothing of significance to see (or so they hope by doing this over a holiday)

i.e. the time of Muzzle Loaders and single shot pistols and no organised police
Now the USA has automatic weapons and has at least three layers of Law Enforcement.
Is there a need to still have the 2nd Ammendment?
I know that the gun lobby will be out in force but personally, I don't think it is needed.
Let the downvoting begin.
In the Blog post 'Mike B' says
"This week we reported to Apple a serious flaw in macOS that can lead to data loss when using an APFS-formatted disk image. Until Apple issues a macOS update that resolves this problem, we're dropping support for APFS-formatted disk images."
Then he goes on to say that it only affects 'Sparse' Images.
Then at the bottom he says (who reads down that far these days eh?)
"Until Apple resolves this disk images bug, we strongly recommend that people avoid using APFS-formatted sparse disk images for any purpose with any application."
He's got all the clicks and promotion of his product by the first paragraph.
He could have said "we're dropping support for APFS-formatted Sparse disk images." (my ephasis) but the headline writers may well have passed over it and therefore he'd not get the Interest in (a.k.a. clicks) his product.
1) Don't buy it. Get a Sonos instead... Oh wait.. It leaves rings as well. Just don't bother with this POS and technology dead end.
2) Got a paper hanky? Put that under it and problem solved. Fanbois won't do that though. They'll spend thousands on new 'ring proof' furniture instead.
There ARE 100% Electric Busses running in London at the moment.
From memory, they are built by BYD (Build Your Dream) and are used on route 135 from Finsbury Park to Morgate.
TfL seem to be concentrating in getting the single decker fleet to be all EV before the Double Deckers.
BYD built all the 2100+ all electric busses for Shenzen in China (their home city).
And there were plenty of cough-cough comentators in the media slagging off Apple for not having 5G functionality in the ultra expensive iPhone X.
I had reservations about those comments simply because there was nowhere to use 5G and Apple being Apple won't include anything that would make them 1st to implement something.
Now we get Quallcomm (not a great fan of Apple at the moment) telling us that it won't be until 2019 that we can get the chips to support it.
I know that it is cold outside but I have to wonder if hell is actually freezing over?
Other reports stated that iFix it realised that the mesh would come off quite easily if they'd attacked it from the other end! Doh!
I wouldn't put it past Mr O from wanting to take a hacksaw to every Apple device (once the Batteries had been removed that is). :) :) :)
In my worthless opinion, the only thing going for this is that it will not be used to :-
1) Sell you more useless tat on your Prime account
or
2) Slurp your listening details and conversations to the highest bidder (both Amazon and Google kit)
As for Siri? Please Apple get rid or do something about it. It is an embarrasment (As if the non removable power cord isn't enough of one as it is)
Oh yes, the Phone that is banned from being used by the US Government and has been dropped by several US carriers... All because of Chinese Government Spyware...
As for the iPhone 6S, why not get a secondhand one and get a £29.00 battery swap from Apple? Does that not make it even better?
It has TouchId which in my mind is superior to FaceID but at least the latter hasn't been fooled by a Photograph like the Samsung version.
It is all a game of cat and mouse between Apple and Samsung. Each one trying to out-do the other.
The coffee in the cafanas as well as the stuff in nearly all small hotels is all spiked with shit and practically undrinkable.
That must because it all comes out of a huge tin with a 'Nescafe' label on it.
The same goes for large parts of S. America and Africa. Even in places where they grow Coffee, you seem to get served luke warm dishwater instead of the real thing.
Yeah, but investors bought shares for the dividends, not because they're interested in the company's activity.
and only what happens in the next 90 days. Plans about investments outside the next quarter are seen as negative in their view of the world. This short termism are be the downfall of many a company. I've even seen one with a full order book for the next TWO years go under because they could not get a line of credit extension for more than 90 days. When their products take at least 120 days to make they had no choice but to shut up shop. Madness.

Fun thing about the DMCA: it required Apple to state, under penalty of perjury, that the iBoot source code was legit:
All it needs is for the code to have been written by Apple. The Copyright statements are enough to get it taken down. It does not have to be the real boot code... but probably is.
We may never know. Apple is probably changing the boot code as we comment (or may have done already) and as the majority of Fanbois update their Apple toys I would not expect their to be much of a risk of mass hacking but it is interesting none the less.
My first Android was an HTC. Apart from one carrier update that was it. Then I had a Samsung. 6 months and the updates stopped. Got another Samsung and this time it was around a year and then it was carrier updates only.
I know that this is not totally represntative but that's my experience. Moved to recon'd iPhones. My iPhone 6 is still getting full OS updates and not had any battery issues. (don't speak too soon eh?)
Until Google puts their foot down OS updates on Android will still be hit and miss. They have the stance taken by Apple to work towards and they should. The whole phone market will be a better place if they did get tough. Less for Apple Fanbois to crow about for one thing.
How about these for starters...
- Not giving the contract to the likes of Crapita, Steria, IBM and especially not to TATA and friends.
- Not changing the spec every week/day/hour.
There is no incentive for UK Techices to get involved with projects like this so they run for the hills when asked to do them.
Fix the above and you might, just might get somewhere by 2021.
A380 in Luton or Leeds
Well, Emirates operates A380's out of Gatwick with the same runway length that early 747's had problems with due to lack of oommpphh from the engines. One Pilot that I knew at the time hated it if they had to take off to the NE as it was rare that they could get a bit of speed up before they got onto the runway. In that case they'd rev the engines up really high and hope that the brakes held.
modern Jets don't have that problem.
As for the A321, I've travelled back and forth to Jordan many times on on (Brit Midland and then BA) and found them ok but with BA adding another row to Cattle Class I'm glad that I don't travel much these days and when I do, it is at the front of the plane. I have to use those AirMiles up somehow...
Where are all the class action lawsuits from all those disgruntled customers who's screens have gone 'phut'?
We all know that if this was Apple, this would be headline news all over the world.
Perhaps it is a sign that MS is slowly fading into insignificance (in the public eye) now that they have given up on mobile?
What a great idea. Waverly (yes you lot of useless twats) won't do it despite Farnham Town Council wanting to put them in (An Ex Mayor drives a Zoe and wants to promote Green Driving)
Then there are the CP's at Hospitals 'reserved for staff', which in reality means just the Chief Exec in his Tesla Model X. Bah Humbug.
and it took 30 seconds to shut it down and wipe it because your mega corp forgot to pay the bill.
There are risks in life. I guess that 3 years to secure your companies IP is not very important then? Didn't you talk to the legal dept? or Information Security?
Yep. Long term biker here (since '69 ) and rode around 13K miles last year on a big bike.
I was taught defensive riding by an ex Police Instructor in the mid 1970's. In traffic I still ride as he taught me. That skill has saved my life on many an occassion.
Ride as if you expect Tin Cans (driven or driverless) to do stupid things and you will survive.
How will the Taxman work out when I'm charging my EV (in the future) or running the washing machine?
Raising the taxation level(i.e. VAT) on Leccy will be a sure fire vote loser. It was tried once and quickly reduced to 5%.
You raise an interesting point. We'll probably all move to a 'pay per mile' model based upon the data all our permanetly connected cars send to HMG/GCHQ. It will also help Big Brother keep tabs on us 24/7.
But what does the wrinkly one have on the current 'Culture Media and whatever' Minister? Well he have the balls to tell Old Wrinkly to go back to get stuffed?
Somehow I doubt it.
As for heads in a Jar, you have forgotten public enemy no 1 (according to the Trumpster), Hillary with her side kick Obama... They'd love to have them stuffed and used for target practice. {joking}
I agree.
The TMoC is a great place to visit. I've been a member for several years. The people there know a thing or two about computers from before Intel.
When you start to understand some of the things they did in those buildings on WW2, you can't help but shake your head in amazement. Some of the stuff they did especially w.r.t breaking the Lorenz code without ever seeing a machine was stunning. Some of their work is still classified (really).
I'm sure that if you have some interesting bits of old kit, they'd be happy to receive it.
PS
If you have the source kit for RSX-11M/Plus then I know that they'd welcome it with open arms.
