Re: Bah...
An updated 1020 (preferably with a micro sd slot and a removable battery) is what would tempt me to try a Windows Phone. No sign of that happening though.

I knew a place that was over subscribed and the bean counters saw the reduced waged bill and let virtually everyone who wanted to go to go. Their off-shore operations had to take up the slack but their home office was badly affected for several years in terms of project delays and general progress as the people with the knowledge and/or authority to make decisions simply weren't there anymore.
'Today everyone’s talking about Apple’s flexibility, rather than its vast market power. It appears that Apple values the music makers – who generate the real demand for the “content services” that technology companies provide – as human beings. Not a unit item to be pared to as close to zero as possible.'
Appears is the right word.
Am I the only one who prefers to have the CD or DRM free files stored locally?
Called up and the person on the other end didn't know about the changes and had to look it up. Even then the way it was worded was confusing as 'Your bundle was not affected.' by which they meant in bundle stuff wasn't changing but over bundle charges were. They said 37p as well not the with VAT charge and didn't mention that I could get out of my contract. In fairness this was probably the first they'd heard of this. Will call up again today to confirm getting out of the contract has to be done in writing.
The virtual keyboard is a better fit for tablets. Can it make a virtual trackpad as well for selecting text or moving the cursor around? As long as you had a good stand, doesn't chew through the battery, is accurate and responsive I can see a market for it but those are big ifs. I doubt if blackberry are that worried, particularly as their keyboards can be used on the move.
But driverless cars will cost more (because of all the tech), need more servicing and will have a shorter life on the road because of all those extra miles they'll be doing. Then they can drive themselves to the scrap heap even if they have a few more years in them (just like print cartridges). There's plenty of opportunity for the worst of the IT and car industries to combine here.
I know the answer before I ask the question (they can't rip you off) but why not a small upgrade fee for the same movie on a new media? Bring your blu-ray and two or three quid to walk out with the 4K version. It would certainly boost uptake rates of the new technology. As it is, I'll stick with DVDs for the moment.
