Re: The usual
Because Donald Trump is the master of childish posturing and that was what people were voting on.

BB10, Win10, Jolla, there is a small graveyard of alternative mobile OSs out there, people for one reason or another just won't buy them and I wish they would. If there was a new 3310 with 4G and wifi hotspot build in I'd be sorely tempted and buy a small tablet for all the non-phone crap we use our phones for.
Trump coulld have chosen to fly commercial when he was a candidate. Instead he flew on his own plane and pocketed the money. He is chosing to spend a huge amount of his time at his own golf courses instead of other peoples golf courses or goverement owned places like camp david where other presidents have gone. His family is living in trump tower instead of moving to the white house or at least a more defensable location nearby so the secert service must pay rent to trump to have the space they need to operate. There are all the security upgrades and things like helicopter pads that have added value to his commercial property that he has not had to pay for. Stuff like this has brought down presidents of other countries. The secert service has to buy this stuff. They can't say there is a building across the road, we'll go there as it is cheaper. There is another golf course it will be cheaper to operate out of, we'll go there. Trump's problem is that he never feels shame, even when he should. As for saying water isn't wet and being an uneasent twirp till every sensible person has gone home, that doesn't make water dry nor does it mean that you have won a victory. If you look back over our last few posts I have presented evidence (from the media admittedly) and reasoned arguments. All you have done is be unpleasent and told me to back down. It is going to take more than a conman's smile and a bully's swagger to convince me I am wrong.
How do you measure flawed? All it seems you are doing is sticking your head in the sand and saying I can't see you. BTW what about the second story? Or these?

Trump is choosing to spend time in places that he owns rather than in US goverment owned facilities. The SS (that's an unfortunate abbrev.) has no choice but to pay the prices he sets and he pockets that money. He is literally making money out of the people who are protecting him.

For Trump, the costs come with an additional perk: Some of the money flows into his own pocket. While Trump has removed himself from managing his company, he has refused to divest his ownership, meaning that he benefits from corporate successes such as government contracts. The Defense Department and Secret Service, for instance, have sought to rent space in Trump Tower, where leasing a floor can cost $1.5 million a year - though neither agency has disclosed any details. In addition, Trump's travel to his signature properties while trailed by a press corps beaming images to the world allows the official business of the presidency to double as marketing opportunities for his brand.
The White House did not address broader concerns of the costs and potential conflicts inherent in Trump's early travels. But White House spokeswoman Stephanie Grisham told The Post this week that Trump is always working, even when he's left Washington behind.
Club members pay $200,000 to join - a fee that has doubled since his election - and $14,000 a year to belong, giving them access to the beach, tennis courts, a spa and, now, on occasional weekends, to the president.
The weekend brought the presidential entourage to two other Trump properties, as Trump and Abe golfed 27 holes at the president's courses in Jupiter and West Palm Beach. The events meant global publicity for the Trump brand - and even more security complications.
Lets assume you're right but I wasn't talking about the attitude of the person in the office to the person on the door. I was talking about professionals being asked to do a job then not being given enough resources to do the job (in their estimation) but still having full responsibility for the outcome.
The secert service asked for more money due to the level of stress protecting the Trump family is placing them under and they were turned down. When the movie gets made I wonder if it will be played as all goverment spending is bad coming back to bite or with weaked security here, here and here... Though imagine the frustation of being the people who have to protect him without the resources to do it. You'd hope that Trump would golf a little less like he promised and do some work, everyone would win then (I think).
Given how powerful modern handsets are and you can buy Windows 10 2-1 tablets/laptops for £150, why can't we have something that will run desktop applications in a dock? I am not talking big games but stuff like scrivener, the best reason I have (along with a little DRM stuff I need) to use Windows. I'd've bought a 950xl last year if continuum could do that.

The ECJ has slapped various UK goverments but the tories in particular around when they have abused UK citizens (just see the whole data protection saga as an example). May wants out so she can have free riegn to do what ever the hell she wants to whom ever she wants when ever she wants. Make no mistake, Brexit is being used as an excuse to destory the legacy of the post WW2 generation that put things like the ECJ in place to prevent the horrors of the 30s coming back to bite future generations. The ECHR is next on her hit list.
Spain can not risk Scotland breaking away from the UK while the UK is still in the EU and might scupper its chances of joining the EU if it does become independant. There will be no extension and lots of other countries will look to expand their own industries at the expense of the UK's. Just look at Paris and Frankfurt going after the banks. This will be short, sharp and incredibly painful. Lets not forget this is not just ecomonics, it is politics and May wants out of the ECJ at any cost, UK ecomony be dammed.
Companies always seem to have the same calculation. Will it cost us one penny more to do something or do nothing? As doing nothing is normally cheaper, nothing is done. I am just surprised that anyone was was surprised hurting their bottom line is what it took to get Google into even first gear. Don't be evil was left behind a long time ago. I do wonder if in the years to come Google will be remembered for these videos the way IBM is remembered for the machines it sold to Nazi Germany.
I am trying to remember if it was Clarke or Asimov who had a giant computer that was hidden underground in a secret location and needed other computers and technicians to translate between it and people.
Of course there is also the scene from Person of Interest were Finch reveals it took 43 goes to create an AI that didn't try to escape and/or kill him.
Google's business model is to get data by hook or crook and then figure out a way to make money out of it. Mostly that is to run ads along side what ever you are looking at but they should never and I do mean never be trusted with something like medical records. It's a tale of abuse just waiting to happen.
It is May's long standing personal ambition to get the UK out of the ECJ and ECHR so she can completely ignore human rights. She had no problems with handing people over to other countries to be tortured and would have if the courts hadn't stopped her. Brexit is the chance of the powerful to fundamentally undermine democracy and the powerful aren't letting it go to waste. Just look at laws like imprisoning journalists who print inconvenient truths.
I don't think the fridges is a microwave/camera moment from him. Far more likely is the risk of joined up data presents to privacy (although lets not forget that there are fridges out there with cameras in them https://www.engadget.com/2016/01/04/samsung-family-hub-smart-fridge/ http://refrigerators.reviewed.com/news/lg-unveils-smart-appliances-ahead-of-ces-2015).
Name one thing? Sure he has put people in place to burn the EPA and the Department of Education to the ground but they are just checking they have enough kindling to get the job done. The wall is going to be a fence which Mexican politicians can climb over with a ladder. He has bribed a few firms to not off shore production but he can't bribe everyone to do the same. The obvious racism and sectarianism of his original travel ban mean every one which follows it will be objected to on the same grounds. Until the things he said weren't to the public but to someone else?
He is extremely rich and in a position to see how the system is rigged and is further rigged for the benefit of the richest in society. Is every one who disagrees with you just a partisan or is there anything that might make you think that someone could disagree with you and also have a point worth thinking about?
