Re: Poor HTC
Poor HTC me arse they are no better than any of the rest. Don't forget they were the shills who helped M$ screw over Sendo (an innovative british company) in the early years of Win Mob.

Err paranoid much?
Did it every occur to you that the required adaptations for orbital mechanics may be completely different to those compensating for atmospheric interference?
Did it occur to you that this gets around the size requirements for getting big mirrors into orbit?
Did you notice you yourself said "reduce" atmospheric interference - not eliminate.
Did it occur that disregarding AO you can get better images in space.
Did it.....sheesh enough already.
Not convinced.
All the APU's have going for them is graphical grunt - which gives absolutely no Edge in Ultrabooks or Tablets which are all about battery life something AMD is notoriously lousy at.
Intels process effeciency (22 vs 32 nm) and power management advantages will kill AMD in every sector of the market.
Platform advantages are spurious and transitory - Ivy Bridge is a drop in replacement for Sandy Bridge in most MB's. Besides both Intel and AMD have a history of socket changes - niether hae managed it well and arguably AMD have done it worse.
I would hesitate to call you a fanboi but those are some mighty AMD tinted specs you wear.
I would dearly love to be wrong but I dont think I am.
For the purposes of accuracy most of the jobs mentioned were Outsourced NOT (necessarily)Offshored.
Now Im sure some were both - but the fact that most were done under Tupe and done less than 3 years ago suggests most are still in the UK. This is backed up by the re-hirings noted for those councils that have increased IT staff.
I have as many problems with offshoring as the next Reg reader - but I also have a problem with knee-jerk conclusions that are not supported by the data or a link. Lets not paint the picture blacker than it is.
Correction. Your statement should read
"Unable to comprehend that you have the fix but you dont want to apply it coz you are waiting for the magic fairies to come and make it all better."
Once you have exhausted the different USB ports/cables, different computers, fresh install of iTunes options you are left with the Aliens option.
"Nuke it from Orbit - its the only way to be sure"
I'll stick with my 3 year old vaio TT. As mentioned above its one of the Expensive Sony's. Slightly thicker (23mm) than whats in vogue these days but at 11" much easier to fit in a bag/rucksack corner than a 13". Also approriate screensize for the size (same as the Naffbooks 1366 ish).
An importantly more ports than you can shake a stick at.
2 usb
Firewire 400
Memory Stick
SD
Expresscard 34
HDMI
VGA
And built like an engineering masterpiece inside with the option for Raid SSD's.
Yes but whats actually likely to be the biggest variable Ability or the Content of the course/paper.
I would assume the latter by a significant amount.
I've also seen the bell curve model work well at Uni. We had a radically different, harder course to the previous years Quantum Mechanics course and to cut a long story short the pass mark dropped to around 35% and a first could be had for about 55% if memory serves, yet the number in each of the grades were roughly the same as compared to the previous year.
I think Blackpool must be doing it wrong.
You have exactly the same costs detailed as with Employer devices. The only additional costs should be running 2 services during the cut over (eg BB and Good), problems with the granularity of the licenses (ie cant reduce BB licenses coz they come in blocks of 1000), and if the BYOD managment space is less mature than your existing set up - so more costly to run.
If you do it right I cant see why it would cost you more - unless of course you have failed to do the cost-benefit going into it beforehand - in which case serves you right.
The Regulatory fines space is a red herring. Properly implemented BYOD policies should reduce this risk not increase it. For instance by removing the need to email a work doc to you home address to work on it at home.
Most of the ipad handwriting Apps simulate a piece of paper of much smaller size than the 20% smaller than A4 ipad screen.
Most of the Apps tend to show text at a fairly high level of zoom for this reason. they also tend to have auto - CR's or "follow along the full length of the line" functionality as a result.
It takes some pratice to use the iPad as an A4 notepad.
Handwriting recognition varies hughly between apps but is a pretty reasonable on the good (paid) apps.
I have a Pro too. It comes with a Alu machined screw top cap. Mine tended to come undone on its own after a week or so boucing around under my iPad or laptop in the bottom of my bag.
The Pro includes a magnet that sticks to Smart Covers and the internal ipad magnets - good for meeting room posing.
The little plastic crosshairs are replaceable from Ebay or Adonit directly. Note that the pen doesnt work without the plastic bit.
Waiting for the Jot Touch with pressure sensitivity.
Also waiting for the Adonit Writer 2 Plus Keyboard but thats another story.
Followed by the next sentence referencing the Kindle Fire - a tablet.
Well Done! /SlowHandClap
What was the point of this article apart from the fact that you believe the only valid consumption device is dedicated ebook reader, and that you deliberately ignored the other Ebook sellers outthere?
Are you the mutant offspring of Matt Assay and Lewis Page? More mono-focused than Lewis and even less relevant than Matt?
