What is it about cable tv operators that leads them to take on huge levels of debt? It's not as if they are a real utility.
Is there any cable co in the Europe actually expanding their use base by cabling up new areas or are they all owned by VC's whose only skill is convincing banks to help them start leveraged buyouts?
So Apple dont make good enterprise apps. Dont think we can argue with that.
Newsflash Matt this does not equal iPad is no good for enterprise. There are plenty good enterprise apps for the iPad from Third Parties that let the ipad do well in its niche which is BYOD, Note taking, and very basic office functionality.
iPad as a desktop/laptop replacement - errr Matt nobody sane said it was (not even Apple). Whether the surface is it will take 2-3 years to find out.

Are you for real? There has been more change in screen technology in the last 15 years as in the previous 50. Given that most of the manufacturing processes are now fairly closely related to chip making techniques there is no reason to suppose we won't be seeing a "moores law" of TV for the foreseeable future.

You are partially wrong and partially right. In a infinite universe ootentially anything can happen. In chemical reactions for any given combination of conditions there are a finite set of results and even less that would lead to life as we understand it. A great example is increased solar and cosmic radiation than we get tends to smash and damage the complex molecules that lead to life. Is life still possible under these conditions? Possibly but unlikely.
Therefore on that basis we more accurately say that based on our current understanding of chemistry the changes of life arising are slim.

People have been aware of the risks of getting mugged since caveman times and have adapted behaviours to mitigate.
This is more akin to someone leaving the pin pad uncovered or letting a waiter walk off with your credit card. Its something for which the social and technological measures have not yet evolved to adequately deal with and where if some more thought had been given up front the risk could have been further mitigated.
Errr - did it occur to you that because of the sheer size of the installed userbase even the geeks with iphones (who are willing to play with NFC) out number the geeks of any other single phone model regardless of anything else. Can you name any other single phone (or pair of phones) that comes close to the installed user base of the iphone.
(Actually I can) - probably any 2 newish models of the BB but can you really see hoodies or corporates using pay by bonk (with their own money.)
Although I think BB are missing a trick here. A NFC partnership with Amex would almost immediately allow them to regain their relevance in the corporate world - especially if it went one stage further and allowed pay by PIN for > £20.
Most if not all of those interested in YouViews features will have a FreeSat or Freeview Box/Telly today anyway - and those mostly will not have wireless just a lan port. So likely lots of them will already have powerline today.

Did you ever consider the fact that I might want to properly administrate *my* router whilst it was not connected to the internet?
At least have the decency to ensure any cloud admin functionality is duplicated locally with the settings kept in sync.

Since intel dont publish their reliability test stats you dont know whether the 2.5 Ghz is a marketing limit or an engineering limit. History has shown that with the low-mid range limit its generally the latter, with Intel having better yields than demand at that particular frequency & price point so they downsell better chips.
You also need to remember that the price of cpu's has very little to do with the cost of manufacturing and testing at a base level and is all about charging what the market will bear at a particular price point.
Engineering tolerances <> Marketing "tolerances" Generally where Intel are concerned the same physical chip is used at multiple marketing price points coz their yields are generally so good. So those of us who OC like the idea of getting something for nothing.
Additionally I guarantee you that OC'ers will
a) Know their TDP rating off the top of thier head.
b) Be running temp monitoring utilities such as speed fan over and above what the bios provides.
All in all an OC'er will have an idea their PC is going tits up long before the average joe.
You dont really get overclockers do you?
Most overclockers :
a) Know and accept the risks they run.
b) Spend hours on testing (prime95 and memtest etc) until a stable configuration is reached.
c) backup backup backup.
Indeed lots of us do it just for the lulz - not particularly for some 500 fps magic number. Even for those of use that have some specific performance goals - we still are happy with a trade off between performance and stability.
Lets face it how often have we all seen a standard windows machine crash - pretty damn often.

Shame really having owned both a 2 and 3 - I would say my own personal sweet spot is a 2. The lovelyness of the screen doesnt make up for the weight/thickness and increased charging time the battery needs. I know we are talking grams and millimeters here but on a tactile level the different is marked. Although just to prove contrary a 3 battery with a 2 screen would also tempt me.
Even suppose they win on the contract issue there is nothing stopping Oracle from forking the Db feature set so that Itanic (I love that name too) gets sloppy seconds.
And even if Oracle don't do that there could be plenty of queued bug fixes and performance tweaks that just sit in the request queue.
Rightly or wrongly HP Itanic is staring down the gun barrel on this one.
BRIC markets are not app saturated - Android is cheap - therefore BRIC is a source of App revenue growth.

The middle market software vendors are thriving. The only reason they dont get any bigger is that they tend to get borged by one of the big guys. Its got nothing to do with the price of their software - just a reflection of market maturity.
Google and Facebook grew big on the back of their software - they just choose to monitise it indirectly - its hardly free, just the cost is something intangible - your data privacy.
They would be offering a free £100 1 month overdraft to anyone with a Natwest debit card who switches their account in the next week.
Although I suspect most CIO's are just thinking "there but for the grace of god go I". Thats even if they have a CIO and he's not been gobbled up by the CFO's Office.
