...if every labour government in living memory hadn't always left us so far up shit creek without a paddle there would be no need for tories to tidy their (labour's) shit up.
Try studying some history before having a little rant about poor little Labour / workers being beaten up by nasty old tories.
If I'm honest I don't really have an issue with "up to a zillion M/bits per second" stuff.
I do have a problem with "fair use" on something sold as unlimited however and in my opinion the whole advertised speed / received speed thing is a complete red herring compared to the "unlimited" thing because by definition something that is artificially capped, regardless of what that cap actually is, is not unlimited.
I really don't understand how they can be allowed to advertise it as such. I can't think of *any* non data/technology related item or service that would get away with it.
would it really be so difficult to advertise "upto a zillion m/bit per sec" subject to a 15 gig / month limit.
Now, I've never actually been capped but if I found I was and it happened regularly enough for me then I'd be happy to pay a little more to get a bigger cap BUT ONLY if my service hadn't been flogged to me as "unlimited"
Pretty scandalous really.
well bully for you!
I do all of those things AND maintain contact with *family* that live all over the world, we share quick pictures with each other and often on the back of a note or a picture a *gasp* phonecall is instigated... seriously a lot of you guy's and gal's really need to get your shit in perspective.
And yes, it has also enhanced my opportunites for sex and that my friend is no bad thing at my time of life ;)
:) I was wondering if anyone would point out the similarities between commentarding on here and commentarding on facebook. Both are of the "here I am and this is my opinion" ilk.
Now I have a facebook profile and like the previous poster, I keep up with freinds and family who are scattered to the 4 corners, I don't share stuff I wouldn't be happy have a convo about so really can't see why all the hatred is thrown at FB....
<irony>
Now Twitter... what a bunch of twats twitter users are!
</irony>
Yor 'aving a larf, mate!
I have a PC with my media on it, I use a dlink media louge streamer that is hooked up to my TV, my surround sound system AND my hi-fi.
I can use wireless or wired
Video / Movies / images (HD as well!) to my tv and surround sound.
Music to both lounge and dining room via my hi - fi system (or I can switch a single room off)
Total cost? about £100.
Yeah, sign me up for one of these babies!
"Geraldine James, Selfridges Christmas Shop's buying manager, warned: "Christmas is coming earlier each year. I can see a time when we offer a capsule Christmas collection throughout the year.""
It is indeed.... BUT only because stupid people like you keep ranging christmas stuff to sell earlier and earlier!
Just think if you didn't range Christmas stuff until say 15th August, it would be a week LATER than last year rather than a week earlier...
Now Ms james, did you see how that worked? see if you can manage the next iteration on your own eh?
idiot!
I've only just got involved with the mobile internet stuff, never having been willing to pay stupid money for it.
When I re-negotiated my pay monthly contract with Orange recently, they threw in "unlimited" mobile internet.... if I had been paying for this "service" I'd probably be pretty annoyed because the several times I could have actually done with it, its been carp.
"Well because there is money involved, and Ofcom appear to have been bitten by the Thatcher view that making money off radio use trumps almost everything."
Yeah, bloody thatcher, she's to blame for everything! I stubbed my toe this morning, I swear she moved the door jamb just as I was going through.
Twat.
"it means the fork action is far superior to a righty"
What?!?!?!
Oh! How I wish my ability to scoop and stab food with my fork wasn't so impaired by my cursed right hand usage!!!
Who will rid me of this foul left handed god who mocks my feeble right hand with his superior fork handling?!?!
Honestly just fuck off... you are too stupid to be allwed the use of either a fork or knife
Actually, you are correct its perfectly legal to take a photograph of anything you can see from public property... PROVIDING the picture is for your own personal use. If you want to publish said picture for any kind of commercial gain , you need to the permission of the owner of the private property you have taken a picture of.
So wonder by, take a picture of my house, keep it to yourself... no problem. Use the image to make money without asking me first... is a problem. (o trivial example but you see the point I'm making :) )
In my opinion, Google is falling fowl of this in the UK.
... a warfighters [sic] POV lots of lovely colateral damage is a good thing but from a PR pov its a bit of a bummer. taking out the target and all his mates is the correct thing to do, militarily speaking.... after all we all know that if you don't kill the bad guy's mate he'll hunt you down!
After all, they said that RIPA would only be used against real terrorists threats and the chances of some mouth breathing/ knuckle dragging idiot from your local authority would never use it to spy on you for trying to get your kids into a decent school...
Or these new police powers would never be used to arrest a disenting voice at the lab Conf, or a single woman reading out names by a monument in the mddle of the street...
They just don't get it do they? If one of them was standing front of me and I could see the rain dripping off the end of his nose I still wouldn't believe it was raining if they told me it was.
Tossers the lot of 'em
A couple of rebuts if I may...
1) Other countries national ID cards are not connected to a fuck off huge uber database of EVERYTHING about you from birth to death and evertything in between being sold to the highest bidders and being accessed by every Tom Dick or Harry plus their Uncles Aunts and nephews.
2) Other countries national ID cards do not cost an arm and a leg
3) The UK national ID card specifically does NOT allow free cross border travel, so you'll still need your "whopping" passport.
So in answer to your question... yeah I'm bothered.
