and what happens when a non-roadtrain car enters the highway, will the roadtrain split to let the driver merge?

Here we have a hybrid system. You vote on paper, but they scan the votes (with the ballets then dropping into a sealed box). So you get the fast results of an e-voting system, but if the vote is close, or there is a dispute they open up the boxes and count them by hand.
Still have to watch for the old games like stuffing the ballet box, gaming the voters list and such but it beats e-voting hands down when it comes to trust.
For the average consumer WOA (or winpho for that matter) is not windows.
You can't run Windows software, it's not windows. You could take an Android device and stick tiles on it and call it windows and it would be about the same for the consumer.
If they are going to copy Apple's locked garden they should have given it a different name then Windows (like iOS), maybe call the OS Metro.
I think someone though Vic was to stupid to notice. They got him to introduce this bill so he could be the lightning rod. Maybe distract people from the bogus copyright bill that Hollywood paid good money for.
"This is the first time that I'm hearing this somehow extends ordinary police emergency powers"
He has no clue, did he even read it?
"So we assume that although Apple has announced that these inspections will take place over the next few months, the exact timing of the inspections will be a surprise"
It depends, do they want to fix the problems, or do they want to look like they are fixing the problems while not doing anything that might affect the stock price.
The big guy (or sometimes two that pretend to compete) grab up all the exclusive deals and exclude any upstarts from entering the market. No need to compete on price or service if your the only game in town.
Exclusive deals suck for the public, they are only good for the big carriers.
is they want to sell the same exclusive rights to more then one company so they need walls. As soon as the www gets into it their business model falls apart.
If Channel 9 have the rights in your area, but they suck, and you can get it form some other area where they don't suck that's what you will do even if the ads are for stuff you can't buy.
Now Channel 9 are all butt hurt because they paid for exclusive rights (so don't need to compete on price or quality) and think they own you.
Look at stuff like iTunes where I can only buy from my local site. I can't buy something from iTunes Japan because the wrong exclusive rights holder gets the cash, even if that means I can't buy it at all because it's not available from the local site. And they don't even have advertisements, it's the exact same file.
Yes, they are not going to go anywhere they way they are.
Apple's walled garden has worked because they were able to get their walls around most of the other gardens. Most of the big things people want can be found inside itunes.
A Sony only garden can't compete, other labels are not going to be in a hurry to give their stuff to Sony.
Even if they split it's not a sure thing (MS is on their third attempt with Windows Phone after "plays for sure" and Zune failed) but they have no chance as they are.
You can't make content work better on Sony devices, you can only make it work worse on other devices by crippling it. That just ends up with the bootleg being better then the official copy.
Sony Music is Schizophrenic enough all on it's own. I was creating a webpage for a Japanese band's visit to Canada so I had to deal with their label Sony. One group giving me pictures and video clips another telling me to remove them, and another telling me that they had to be impossible to download from our site (told them our security was equal or better then their site... right click, save as) and required that I post iTunes links... for US iTunes as they were not available from iTunes.ca.
In Canada only Telus list the Lumia 800, but as "coming soon" with no price. Rogers has a Samsung Focus, Bell has nothing. I only checked the big three but I don't expect any of the little guys have any since they tend to sell stuff the big three didn't sell last year... Maybe they will be selling winphone next year.
