Oh, don't worry, that's not an actual statement, that's lawyerese boilerplate.

Re: Security concerns?

It's easier than that. Just check the email headers of email sent by users of Office 365, even if they mapped it into their own domain name.

You will see that such email has ALWAYS been sent from a US host, so whatever you do, your data had to travel to the US first.

IMHO, Microsoft has been getting away with this for so long they don't even bother to hide it now.

To make matter worse, where I work has been funded as a collaboration of many countries around the world, so nearly each building comes with a different type of sockets, depending on the standard of the funding country (US, Japan, many EU countries, Australia, etc.)

We got two selection models for that. Equipment is sourced locally, but mobile gear is always required to also support the two pin Euro socket for which our offices always have sockets (or convertors, depending on code allowing us to fit the sockets or not), irrespective of country.

Re: Buy American because it's better, right?

All those Tesla Model 3's (with AFAIK at least 8 cameras recording everything around the car and sending data home) that will soon hit the roads are always connected to the Mothership in the USA.

I'd keep an eye on your WiFi access logs then - there may be a Google partnership in the works for Streetview v2 with a new round of "accidental" WiFi intercept which was "accidentally" left behind by an engineer which then dumped data into a service backend that just "accidentally" happened to be fully set up and available and "accidentally" fully compatibel with the data collection in the cars.

Did I mention that it was all an accident?

Ah yes. the old “we ignore the law because it would have stopped us from doing what we want” excuse. Normally works fine over there, I wonder what happened..

What I find interesting is the tacit acceptance that they made a mess of the job. The incessant repeating of "make America great again" seems to me implicitly acknowledging that it either hasn't happened yet, or that they screwed up..

Re: How many other renters complained and were ignored before it finally went public?

They now do, to the point of simply listing towels and robes as chargeable items (with the usual hotel upmark, of course - as with drinks, you can buy two for their price from regular trade).

It's done on the same principle as the hotel fridge: you take something, they'll charge you for it. That's also why they want your card details (other than for losing it later with millions of others to hackers, of course).

True, but the discussion is here veering towards state actors, and they could indeed use the diplomatic channels with gay abandon.

As for Assange™, I believe that ploy failed because he had to be first accepted as a courier, and that didn't fly (and thus neither did he) for obvious reasons. Ditto for ideas of making him a diplomat.

Speaking of which, he's been miraculously quiet of late. Is that because he still hasn't got his Internet back, or are Trump and Brexit absorbing all the publicity oxygen?
