SuperSpeed USB to be 'successful', enthuses analyst

Greg J Preece

Hehe

I love the dripping sarcasm. You have to wonder who hires these idiots to state the obvious for cash.

Stallman: open-source .NET 'danger' for Debian

Greg J Preece

@Geoff Johnson

You not being able to use Iceweasel for online banking without a user-agent switcher is not the fault of Debian - it's the fault of your bank. If they had techies that weren't so incompetent, you'd be able to access it in anything.

Awww, it won't start. :-(

Would have used Shiretoko on a daily basis, but I needed my plugins. Looking forward to this.

"the fact that it made reference to a band popular with young people"

Got to get the kiddies in there somewhere. If you want to win an argument these days, just tell everyone how you're doing it for the kids.

Twunt.

@Dan

I was wondering this! How the hell is any of this admissible in court?

FUTURE SHOCK!

<<<< Did you get this from The Terminator: Future Shock? Has someone else in the vicinity played T:FS, the greatest and most underappreciated game of all time?

Man, that game was awesome. So, so awesome.

People just not that into Blu-ray

Greg J Preece

It's still too feckin' expensive, that's why

I like Blu-ray. I would like to make my future purchases in Blu-ray. Am I going to pay twenty five feckin' quid for each one? Get stuffed! So only the films I really care about are going to arrive on BD.

Microsoft goes green to win IE 8 and Bing users

*Splutter*

From their oh-so-objective and not-even-slightly-a-lie comparison chart:

" Internet Explorer 8 is more compatible with more sites on the Internet than any other browser. "

*Cough* *Splutter* *Coffee*

I'm sorry, say that again please. I'll try to keep a straight face this time.

Hardware keyboard, hardware keyboard, hardware keyboard

Touchscreen keyboards are SHITE. I hate using smartphones that have them. That's why I like the G1 and its hardware keyboard, even if it is wee. My old MDA and my current Athena also have hardware keyboards. They're much nicer to use.

I was going to pass on the G1 and wait for one with a few more features and better battery life, but now...

US gov asked Twitter to stay up for Iran protests

Greg J Preece

Western impartiality on Iranian elections?

Hah!

While I appreciate the events and sentiments in Iran, I don't doubt for a second that we're getting a very one-sided view of these results. Does this really come as a surprise?

Firefox update squashes 9 security bugs, 4 critical

Greg J Preece

@Ben Bradley

Don't be facetious. Firefox as a whole isn't a massive download, and you know full well that profile folders are separate, so upgrading almost never affects your settings. I share the same Firefox profile folder across different operating systems, never mind different versions. Works just fine.

Greg J Preece

Thank God!

Apparently this update fixes that bloody right-click bug in Firefox, where you right click, and the browser plays Russian roulette to see what the outcome will be. Will you get a context menu? Will you get the extensions panel? Will the browser inexplicably crash? Who knows!

Most. Annoying. Bug. Ever.

iPhone 3G S in the UK: what you need to know

Greg J Preece

@Mac Phreak

Surprised you've had bad experiences with HTC devices. My current HTC PDA has proven utterly indestructible many times over. And my old HTC PDA, whilst buggy on the software side, was totally immune to damage. And by "damage," I don't mean "thrown onto the bed a lot" - I mean more along the lines of "dropped on concrete a lot."

One millionth English 'word' is... Web 2.0

Greg J Preece

Eh?

How can a *two word* bunch of marketing shite made up by a man that wanted to sell more books be considered a word anyway?

Fedora 11 leaps into filesystem unknown

ext4 is fine on my server

Yeah, I said server. As the app points out, the issues occur in software that's not using the proper calls. I'm not running any of that software, and my server boots so fast it's scary. Also using it on a workstation and my laptop. Not had any problems at all, only benefits.

It looks like a skiddy, it talks like a skiddy... I think there's a possibility we *are* giving them too much credit.
