I'll wait for the PC version

Every complaint I've heard against this game is along the lines of "the console controls are crap", as is almost always the case with strategy/God games, so I'll wait for the PC version and use a mouse.

Tried using it again this week after I did something stupid to my Firefox profile and couldn't be arsed rebuilding it for a few days. It's never been a shit browser, but in the end I missed the Awesome Bar and my plugins too much and rebuilt my FF profile. Muuuch better.

Can't see a Sega 32x in there with his Mega CD II. Also, he has the Jaguar, but not the Jaguar CD. Kinda hard to blame him for that.

Been running this for ages

Flash-Aid has been installing 64-bit Flash for ages. They were the 10.x betas from Adobe Labs, and they were pretty damned stable. Wonder how good this one is.

Double dipping

I know people were very reluctant to upgrade to Vista on the whole, but I'd be interested to see whether MS has made that deficit up by double-dipping its Vista customers for copies of the working version, Win7.

And if it turns out they actually made more money that way, who's betting 8 will be crap, and 9 will fix all its flaws?

Paying a nominal fee to get online with a 2nd hand copy is better than the alternative, where the code is permanently registered to you, and you then can't ever sell your game. See almost all modern PC games.

I love these things

We have a number of the earlier Edge machines in the office, with the same casing and keyboard layout, and they're great. They feel solid and well built, look understated and classy in matte black (unlike their predecessors, the N300/N500 range with their tacky silver lids), and as business machines are reliable, quick little machines. The keyboards are nice too, with my only criticism being the arrow key/paging arrangement being a bit fiddly. They also run Mint perfectly out of the box. ;-)

...that "gears" level doesn't half look like the "fear" level from the end of Rez.

Man, I have been waiting years for this game. I loved Rez with a disturbing passion. Imported the soundtrack CD and it's other slightly *ahem* interesting peripheral. And being a PS3 gamer, I have to wait a little while longer...

Re: Appropriate Name

I seem to remember reading in a deGrasse Tyson book that all the planets were named this way - the planet itself after the Roman god, and the moons after the children of their equivalent in the Greek pantheon. Or something like that...

Just like Chrome!

"Google has released a new version of Chrome Frame – the Internet Explorer plug-in that turns Microsoft's browser into a Google browser – letting users install the plug-in even when they don't have administrator privileges on their machines."

Just like their main Chrome browser has been doing since it was released. Turn off install privileges for your user, and Chrome just installs itself in their user directory. I figured out the best way to stop it was to create the Chrome install folder on the machines in advance, then revoke any and all write permissions to it. Boom! No Chrome.

I don't know why they think this kind of thing is acceptable. Trying to up your market share at the cost of security on the few machines I have still running Windows == your product gets banned from the network.

Bottom of page 2 - isn't that one of the early missions from the first game? When you're still being introduced to climb+shoot they have you get that food drop down, and then you can choose whether or not to slaughter the crowd that comes looking. That square is definitely Empire City.
