Having been off work for quite some time after meeting an idiot attempting to overtake on a blind bend. I can assure you that i have never be so creative in my life. Having lots of time and enough spare money to purchase components from China, I have solved lots of problems that i did not have before my "accident"
Im sure if this was expanded to the population at large the explosion of creativity would revolutionise our society, Perhaps this is the reason that most of our "leader" are against this.
Right im off to see what else i can build for a raspberry pi and a box of cheap sensors !
A fantastic device, Lite, Huge battery life, Yes you can install Linux (To run concurrently with chrome OS) as the both run as VM's, But i find that the Chromebook does everything i need as is, Ctrl-ALT-T and i can ssh into another device. Via the browser i can do most things, and if i need to do some real work, I switch to a desktop as laptops just don't cut the mustered for me no matter what the OS when it comes to developing software (testing Yes) but not developing.
It's fast, Cheap, stylish with great battery life.
If you ain't tried one give it a go, i paid £250 for my HP 14 Best laptop i've had ever and my first was a mitac 286 !
Unless one side can completly eradicate 100% of the other side by means of extream violence. then the only option is to negotiate for peace. the side with the best resourses will be looked down on for its unfair kill rate and the side with the least resourses will pay the victim card. the only solution is to negotiate for peace or this will go on and on and on.

I have tried these Android sticks and they are good if you want to run android on your telly, But the pi lets you play in the "real" world. The GPIO is the killer PI function, My first attempt was a Doorbell (ok 1 switch) but it's been running for well over a year now, Plays AC/DC when pressed (Don't you have a sub woofer on your doorbell) tweets Just coz it can and pushes a message to my phone. all completely useless functionality, but functionality that i can build my self, Now im working on switching 12 volt dc supplies to control the lighting on my fishtank. learning electronics and never board. as for the comment about the same pinout on the GPIO great i can use this without redesigning my hardware, Think apple (ooohgh i know) but iplop dock are everywhere as their just the one (ish) to implement.
Look on the bright side guys, for several years now i've been getting my old bangers fixed for the cost of the parts, as every time i go to my auto repair man, He's got issues with his computers, I don't charge him labour and he don't charge me. And if the cars themselves get even more complex that's even more people need your skills in a barter like way, last set of wheels cost me £600 and lasted 14 months with no repair bill, + £100 back from the scrap yard, lets see it the new £400 sporty model does as well, As for javascript in my dash board, fine if i put it their on a raspberry pi, but i'm not trusting anyone elses !

As a Linux guy, not wanting to give MS any more money and not stupid enough to pay thru the nose for apple products , I thought i'd give the chrome book a try, Not disappointed in the least.
It took me 2 months before i installed linux, That's how useful chrome is. then it confused me as i had spotify playing on linux and tabbed back into chrome only to find that Spotify was still playing !
Yip Chrome runs on a VM and so does Linux so you can have the best of both worlds at the same time.
as you already know everyone and their brother are spying on you, but at least google gives you some decent hardware.
