Turnips
Turnips. Vegans should eat lots of turnips. Soon they'll start to look and act like their diet staple and their moral superiority will disappear. Turnips are NOT morally superior.

In the 60s we were presented with the hilarious scenario in 'Get Smart' when Agent Smart would insist the Chief bring down the Cone of Silence. The subsequent disfunctional conversation reminds me of the effects of Security Measures upon many OSs.
Constant diligence of network and user activity, quotas, and applying known patches go a long way to thwarting exploits.....but they require resources that are often considered to be not cost effective.......until they are.
Galileo or Raspberry Pi? I know there's millions of Raspberry Pis in use and that they are capable of all the tasks we associate with a computer, data processing and storage, video, networking and ports for peripherals so why would MS choose Intel instead? Control, channel stability? No, just corporate conservatism. Timidity. CYA. All the signs of an organization showing signs of 'maturity'. They're experiencing the business equivalent of 'old age'.
The dichotomy in opinion reflects the conflict between science and mysticism; something California experiences daily on a variety of topics. It could be the rampant substance abuse is my best guess. Building an advanced civilization upon a geologically unstable location has been going on since the Minoans. I wonder if they were on drugs too?
The Americans never really got over the Stamp Tax of 1765 and this new insult by their EU colonies, er, allies will certainly generate more than 'disappointment'.
They insist that their policies take precedence over any picayune concerns such as personal privacy or individual liberty. American national security policies by definition mandate insecurity for the individual.
A breakdown of the planet's regulatory system where teeth and claw growth caused a wave of violence that loosened the fabric of reptilian society coupled with the unavailability of contraception and the soaring cost of reptilian education and healthcare lead to mass migrations causing the death of millions.
It was a period of extreme social injustice that gave rise to the Reptilian Labour Party ending in mass extinction.
"Yes Doctor, every test I performed reinforced my diagnosis".
"I'm very sorry to tell you this but you're suffering from a terminal case of nostalgia"
"You're life will become an infinite loop and, after a time, you will cease functioning out of sheer boredom"
"People will flee at the mention of your name"
I want to thank Mr. Bezos for giving me a compelling reason for not visiting the WaPo website. As for Google I vaguely recall other search engines I can use and other sites for photo and document sharing that suddenly became more appealing.
Nothing like alienating your customer base and establishing a reputation for increasingly annoying your users to firmly establish your position. I stopped using Google Chrome because of all the unwanted 'extras' it insisted must be installed and constantly updated.
I noticed on some older Windows netbook type machines a huge increase in system load (from <10% to >50%) with no applications running. I traced it to the update service and the W10 migration updates. Killing the service and patching the registry to keep the updates from automatically reloading was more than a little bothersome. I wonder how many home users with older machines have experienced a sudden decrease in response time and usability? Probably many millions.
