Why the 'feudal' tech monopolies run rings around competition watchdogs

Not 'Feudal'

Feudalism can not exist without 'fealty'. From the highest to the lowest their bond was one of shared fealty.

Norwegian History

At the turn of the Twentieth Century Norway as a country was dying. So many people were emigrating that the country was almost depopulated. What a lost opportunity. If it weren't for their oil they'd be among the least important, poorest countries in Europe. They'd be back to using reindeer as their primary motive power.

In years to come scientists will discover the cause behind of the Great Meteor that impacted Redmond in 2018 linking Microsoft's defiance of several natural laws as the 'attractor' that guided the gigantic missile to it's target.

Windows Replacement

I've been running more and more Linux boxes as Windows replacements. I've spent the last couple of years refining the images, making them as useful and efficient as possible and creating the tutorials and help files for users who never saw a Linux box in their lives. The systems do everything they have to do very well and they ARE more stable and user friendly than Windows. I'm ready, but the users aren't and even with all that, the migration will be complicated......by the users.

Apple MacBook butterfly keyboards 'defective', 'prone to fail' – lawsuit

Howard Hanek

How Apple Creates 'Opportunities'

Their hardware products are NEVER defective , their software never insecure, buggy or unstable. All the 'fixes' become part of the marketing plan to create that 'need' that only 'Apple' can meet. I doubt if many if any of the Macbook users will migrate to another platform over a keyboard issue that should never have occurred given the experience and resources of Apple. THERE's the real reason why Apple has become so lax. They think they can never lose......especially their customers once they hook them. I call it expensive junk production for people convinced the label is all that's important.

Re: "We want to do things because they're the right thing to do, not just because we can"

Right. They must 'know' what's 'right' first don't they or do they just assume anything 'they' do is 'right'?

Right. Always right. It must be a comfort.......for as long as it lasts. I remember conversations with Cobol people so many years ago and how 'systems' could never be on anything other than a mainframe. They were 'right' right?

IBM does a better job of claiming to be always 'right' than Microsoft. They've indoctrinated their people better.

Almost There

I've installed 17.10 on several desktops and a couple of laptops for testing but, as far as I'm concerned, it's not ready for production just yet. A major problem is that it breaks VMware and I haven't found a truly working fix for that. A major application for many working in development who need to port their projects to various OSs.
